difference between RSX and RSX-s
I was reading the specs on the two and it seemed like the only difference between the two is the compression ratio. Is this true or are there other engine related differences??? Also, the new Civic Si, does that come with the same engine that the RSX NON type s has?? Thanks
RSX and type S have different cylinder head designs and without going into detail, RSX only has iVTEC on intake... type S has on intake and exhaust cams
type S has 6 speed tranny too.
The new Si will come with the RSX base motor....

x2board is right ... damn son -- you have learned something about my motor .. now if we can only sit down and spec out my speaker system... How bout it?
Type S also has bigger brakes, different suspension settings (I believe, don't quote that one), Body-colored cladding (rather than black plastic), leather interior standard (optional with RSX Premium), 7900 rpm redline on S... I think that's it.
Add: Bose stereo with 6CD changer in-dash and subwoofer (in spare tire) comes with Type S also.
200 hp for S, 160hp for Base and Premium

So has anyone driven the two cars back to back?
My dealership always has a Type-S on the lot but rarely has a base RSX. I've driven the Type-S but I want to see how much different the base drives. What's funny is that the dealership always runs ads in the newspaper selling the base RSX for $18500 but they never have any in stock. The Type-S is selling for $23500. Is it worth $5000 more?

it really depends on what you want to do with your car. If you want to race, i'd suggest a type-s. The base-rsx makes its peak torque earlier than the type-s and makes for a better daily driver. I believe the suspension set up is the same for both cars, not sure though.
As for mods, the base rsx will be easier to turbo cause of its more friendly compression ratio. So expect some turbos coming out for the base-rsx soon. with that difference of 5000 you could probably slap a turbo kit on it installed by a professional and tuned.
