Okay pull the cover off and you will be able to see if it is chipped, Chipped ECU's normally have an IC socket soldered in to accept the new chip and make it easy to swap them in and out. To find out what kind it is , if you look at the plug end under the aluminum case on the gray plastic there should be a label which denotes its origin. It is easier if the cover is off , and since you have to take it off to see if it is chipped or not then just look then.
