Remote starter problem with 6-cyl '97 Accord
Hi, I'm a newbie who would appreciate some help.
I'm trying to install a remote starter I received as a gift. I ordered the "T-Harness" to simplify the install but the harness doesn't work, the car won't start. Closer examination revealed that some places that my cars's plug has wires do not have wires in the T-Harness. The harness vendor swears this is the right one for the 97 Accord but the fact is the car won't start because some wires are missing.
I wonder if the wiring of the ignition switch in my 6-cyl is different from the much more common 4-cyl? Does anyone know?
By the way, the T-Harness is a male and female plug with wires connected to a third plug. The T-Harness eliminates cutting and splicing wires. Yes, I know, real men cut and splice. But, even though I have a degree in electrical engineering and 30 years of wiring experience I really think the T-Harness is a better way to go.
Except, of course, that it doesn't work.
So, my question is, is the wiring of the ignition switch in my 6-cyl is different from the much more common 4-cyl?
Thanks

HA HA first newbie of 05.
Now do your self a favor & get this done by a pro so you get a warranty.
i just had a car alarm installed thursday & some kid came in to the shop & said he installed his own remote starter & his car starts all by its self & keeps blowing fuses.

Thanks but I'm sort of trapped - family politics.
What I need to know is whether the 4 and 6 cylinder 97 Accords have different ignition wiring?
Can anyone help?
