Default Idle and Check Engine Light ?????

First is it normal for my rpms to be bouncing between 1 and 2 grand when idling? Someone said I needed to check my anti freeze but that was just filled because I recently got a new radiator. Its been going on before the new radiator was put in.

When I put in the new radiator, it started throwing the check engine light code. I took it to a mechanic and he said he took it off twice but it kept coming back. How do I get that off?

for your bouncing idle - check your FITV - it is located right beneath your throttle body. also your IACV, it is located on the front of your intake manifold... search these forums there are tons of posts about this (especially this time of year)

as for the check engine light - you'd have to tell us what code it is throwing, in order for anyone to help you. It could be related to your idle probs if it is the code for the IACV. the FITV would not throw a code because it is not an electronic component - just mechanical.

all the best.

Thanks for the info! Although Im not sure what code it is throwing, the mechanic just said he could get the code off. So I will try and find out what code it is.

If the light is still on then check the code yourself it takes like 10 min. and only requires a paper clip. Im am 99% sure you can find directions (if you dont already know) with a search. Also your coolant could be low b/c when you replaced your radiator you could have gotten an air bubble in the cooling system.
