Default Our car audio shop wants feedback on which speaker line to carry.

January of every year, we go to the CES show in LV to see whats new, meet and greet our vendors, and so on and so forth. And its 'bout that time of year again.

We are looking to carry a new line of speakers for 2005. Our main speaker line is MB Quart. We also carry JL Audio, Alpine, and Pioneer Premier.

Basically, JL, Alpine, and Pioneer all make great component speakers. And for those customers that want a little more, we offer MB Quart.

We need to add another "High End" line to our roster. What do you guys recommend?

anything exclusive, esoteric and high end for those people who "grew out of mb quart" because it's too mainstream, even though they do make nice and accurate sounding speakers. Hopefully, a line that isn't going to bite you in the *** because it's whored all over the internet and will keep you guys in business.

morel usa recently started their car audio line again. nice stuff.

i vote seas as well.

if you want to become a seas dealer, let me know, i have a contacts with a distributor. if you want to demo them, let me know. i go to orange county periodically.

if your interested in meeting the distributor, he will be as CES as well. i am attending the show also, maybe we can all meet up.

the seas are an awesome set of speakers. they are the most neutral and transparent speakers i have ever heard.

In my opinion, it's good that you carry JL Audio, Alpine, and Pioneer Premier because they are well known names and people will buy them. Have you considered carrying Kicker? They are also quite popular.

For people who want a little more, MB Quart is good along with Diamond Audio, CDT, and Eclipse.

For people who are car audio gurus, I would suggest ARC Audio, Rainbow, and RE.

from what ATF said and probably is true, RE dealers can't be 25 miles within each other. There is already one close to scareyh22a's place

I could recomend Adire, but they are way cheaper than the upper end MB stuff. I'm guessing you are looking for stuff in the same price range as the MBs.

Although I have never heard them myself, I hear great things about USD Audio.

I would like to Recommend Boston Acoustics. They make speaker lines that vary in price, and performance from the budget "circuitcity/bestbuy" group, to the very High End customers. Working in the car stereo business for approaching my 4th year, I would recommend a manufacturer that offers a wide variety of product, each having its own price point. You may be able to stop carrying Alpine and Pioneer premier coax's and components and just carry Boston to satisfy customers of all ages and income tax brackets.

A brand like boston may also get you some older customer who approach your shop to get that Boston name. I know plenty of customers I sold Boston Acoustics Home theatre to that came back for that "Boston Sound" in their cars. If you wanted to go with something a little less mainstream. You may want to try Focal. They offer quite a few different lines at different pricepoints. $80 coax's, to $1200 components, and everything inbetween. Even if you dont go with boston particularly, go with a brand that can offer you more, don't offer more brands. This school of thought is worth a shot.

I've never heard seas.. do you have a OC distributor number?

And as far as Bostons... thats what I've had my eyes on. I'm definitely going to the Boston booth at CES. I wanna check out Seas also. Got a booth number? I'll be in Vegas this Saturday afternoon and will probably be on the convention floor Sunday. Thanx so far guys.

infinity isn't a bad company to have on your line card...

it also may be in good interests for you guys to buy bulk drivers and sell component sets using those drivers and outsource crossovers to a company that can build them for you, and then create your own line of uber high end speakers and keep the price at a good point... that way you can sell to customers that wouldn't buy from you because of a gap in your product line...

Boston Acoustics. Infinity or Diamond audio would be my second choice though. I like the Boston's a fair amount though.

I have a friend who owns a shop and carries Diamond Audio. The vendor has been good to him, as I understand.

Memphis is a great product as well.

well, there are only 3 authorized dealers in the U.S.

1 of them happens to be the only distributor in north america at this time. the ironic thing is that he lives no more than 5 minutes from my house.

there are no authorized dealers that i know of in the west coast area. this would be an advantage for you if you decide to pick them up.

here is his website http://www.mobilesq.com Eng would be the one to speak to about becoming a dealer. he will be at CES thursday through sunday. i will be at the show thursday and friday. if you are not there any of those days, i can arrange something for the both of you to meet. i will give him a call to let him know you're interested in becoming a dealer. if you'd like, you can give me a call at 626 975 4525. this way, we would not have to go throught the hassle of waiting for a response on h-t. another way would be to leave me your number and i can call you.
