Bear with me, I was thinking about this and wanted to see if anybody else thought it made sense...
I was reading a tow truck theft thread on here, and an owner of a tow-truck said that no matter what, his winch was strong enough to drag a car even if the wheels couldn't spin.
That got me thinking, what if there was a way to park your car, and leave it in neutral so that the wheels could spin...
Because think about it this way... if your wheels were free to move, and you cut your steering wheel all the way to one side, if a tow-truck tried to pull your car, instead of dragging it, the car would actually roll off to the side, and hit another car (or two)
I hope you guys understand what I'm talking about, I know I didn't explain it well.

well, if your car is a manual, you can park it in neutral. the problem is that if a truck can pull any car with the wheels locked, then it's still capable of pulling a car whether it's pointed in that direction or not.

but anyway there is other ways around that. there are these dollies you put around your wheels and by stepping on a lever they raise up and actually keep your wheels of the ground..... shops use them for moving cars around the shop.

A tow truck can take it no matter what. Even if you turn your front wheels all the way to one side he can still take it. Since its fwd they'll most likely try to grab it from the front to not damage the trans and then he has to deal with the parking brake and he'll either slim jim the lock and release the brake himself or just use his dollys and tow it on that.Your best bet is to get your wheels as close to the curb or anything else solid so his claws or dollys cant get around them to pick them up. Sometimes if I park near a pole or something i'll get as close as I can then turn the wheels so that the car cant be dragged out of the stall without removing the pole or without turning the front wheels. There's ways to slow the process but in the end if the truck driver needs to tow it.............its gone.

nah, well what I'm saying is taht if the wheels are cut all the way to one side, then if they try to pull it, it will just roll into the car parked next to it... get it?

95 percent of the flatbed tow trucks also has a grabber attached to the back, which means, the guy doesn't even have to get out of his truck, he backs up in front of you, and then the grabbers drop to the ground, go around your front wheels, around and then lift up.
if they want to take your car, they can take it

but if a truck can pull a car with the wheels locked and brake on, it will just squeal all the tires and pull it forward. just cuz the wheels are cut to the side doesnt mean that's the only way it will go. the truck will pull the car against the way the wheels are turned.

ya, but i'm saying the wheels arent locked, so when they pull it, the car will move freely 9which they may or may not be expecting) and when they try pulling it, it will roll (freely) into another vehicle.
either way, seems like it's not a good idea, not alot of positive feedback...

thats what i do, it will slow down the theif, but eventually, they will still get away with your car.
garage your car when you are at home, and dont take your car when you go to the movies or to the mall where you would leave your car outside for 3-4 hours. carpool
