hello guys,
i recently got a newly rebuild garret t3 turbo off of a volvo 740 i believe. I then got a t3 turbo inlet gasket to seal the exhaust housing to the exhaust flange of my manifold. When i went to do it i noticed that The Volvo T3 exhaust housing is a little different. They have an circular indentation on it to mate with their manifolds. My t3 gasket wont seal up the circulat indention and i was wondering if any of you had this same problem or heard of anyone who has, and how they solved the problem. I heard something about an O ring that you can place in the circular part of the inlet but i was wondering what kind of material and where to find one of these? Any help or input on this would be greatly appricieated.

If you are talking what I think you are talking about, you could use a oversized steel shim gasket along with a pair of asbestos-material gaskets to seal it up.
I have the same turbo. I had issues finding a machinist to mill it flat(no round hole). Everyone said I needed to find a bridgeport mill. Well I took it to http://www.besracing.com they took care of it for around $60. I'm pretty sure they don't have a bridgeport mill. I think they used a grinding table.
There used to be a sealing ring volvo sold but dicontinued a long time ago. Volvo service says to just clean it up and run with no gasket on their cars, which is a good idea IMO.
I run a .63 volvo turbine housing and what I did was weld in the half moon shapes (after through cleaning and preheating) with a MIG. I planed it flat on a belt sander and did a little smoothing on the inside with a die grinder. It seals great against a regular t3 flange with no gasket.
the stacked gasket idea works but I have yet to see it last any length of time. and it looks like ****.
