Default turbo f22b2

i'm looking at building my f22 instead of doing the h22 or h23 swap. now i can either get a full kit and spend a few grand and get it all or do a junkyard pieced together turbo. just wondering if anyones had experience with this and what to look out for or expect as problems etc.

i say go junkyard turbo , i went turbo on my del sol everything was from the junk yard i spent $50 for a t3 turbo , smic free and free misc hoses and pipes ,went with a cheapo bosch bov $15 ,copper feed line 4 feet 8 cents, rubber return line free junk yard ,fmu $30 ,fuel reg $10 and a cheapo apc crap boost guage $10
total 115.08 ran the del sol with 9 psi of boost on regular gas and that **** ran nice , until the seals on the turbo began to leak like a month later and a month after that blew a head gasket but hey what do you expect from a car with 180k miles and running a t3 turbo at 9 psi of boost with no waste gate

^ ummm how were you running 9psi with no wastegate? without a wastegate you would just keep building boost till you blew your **** up or destroyed the turbo (seems like you did both)

I advice against a junkyard set-up, if you want a pos set-up go for it, otherwise piece a kit together yourself using decent parts. no FMU, get real management.

i just finalized my turbo setup on my 97 f22b2.
heres what i have
custom fabbed manifold, downpipe, exhaust, IC piping, and oil lines
Johnny race car front mount
walbro 255lph fuel pump
garrett t25 (stock 2g eclipse turbo)
1g dsm BOV
dsm 450 cc blue top injectors
autometer boost, EGT, and oil pressure guages
(ordering an AEM FPR tomorrow)
running uberdata with a p06 ecu and JDM **** OBD1 conversion harness
PLX m300 wideband.

I am having some fuel troubles right now. my fuel pressure is way too high so my car was running pig rich at idle (10:1 AFR) and those 450's were dumping way too much fuel in. so i put my stock obd2 ecu and stock injectors back in and disconnected the wastegate actuator arm from the flapper so it wouldn't make any boost and drove it home.
tonight i started having some fuel issues with fuel spewing out the injector seals cause the pressure is too high. so im hoping the FPR will fix the problem.

If all goes well i should have it tuned in the next week and i will post my results along with some pictures of the setup.

It's all about what manifold is available for cheap and a turbo that fits the manifold. Cheapest way to do it is to get a manifold off a stock car wiht the turob that came with it so you don't have to worry about finding a turbo with the same flange.

If you can get those things...everything else is fairly cheap and can be customized easily. Only other part would be having to get a cutom downpipe made to connect to your exhaust.

I had a 240sx stock engine that I build a turbo kit using DSM turbo. It ran great while i had it. Engine had a lot of miles on it so the engine eventually messed up the rings but with accords, many have been runing mild boost levels with no problem (4-8psi) so I don't think you have to worry about it.

If you want cheap, then go junkyard setup. If you want guaranteed fit and all your parts at once, buy the kit. It's all about how much effort/time you can put into it. It took me about 3 months to scrounge all the pieces I needed for my junkyard setup.

Your quote made it seem as if his kit was a junkyard kit.

so you telling me that doesnt make someone who didnt know think that the car was made with a junkyard kit.

You stated nothing about the HKS kit and made it seem as if the kit was made from a junkyard kit.

I wasnt being sarcastic when I said thanks for correcting me. 94accorddx's old accord had the only accord hks kit in the states. I think junkyard kits can be more customized and cheaper. Finding all the parts and getting them to work in harmony is the challenge.

You're all worked up over someone else's ride So its got an HKS kit, whoopty-*******-do. No one is impressed. Its pretty insignificant and you shouldn't get all worked up because he made a simple mistake. At least he admitted it

His original quote was obviously not sarcastic. He acknowledges he was wrong and thanked you for showing him his error. He even made a separate post to say he wasn't being sarcastic. Seems like you could be a little more polite then continue to harass him about a mistake. For Christ's sake, its not your car!!!!!!! You're acting like he fucked your mom
