How reliable is the club? Should I just invest into an alarm system?

clubs are useless. you can get a can of the coolant stuff from any hardware store, spray it on the club and break it in half with your hands....

people can cut the steering wheel and get the club out if their way. Saw it on an infomercial for the Autolock

Simply a time consuming deterrant. Holds no anti-theft value.

I'd still get it though; along with an alarm.

Yeah, it's just something else that a thief has to go through when trying to steal your car... security is all about layers, and a club is one (even though it's not the best). At night, I park on my driveway, and I use a club, an autolock, have an alarm, various kill switches, and a pit bull in my backyard that barks if anyone is walking on the street at night. A thief can still mow through all of my security tactics, but by the time he does, I'll be pointing a shotgun straight at him.

when it comes to security, anything that buys you time (10 seconds) or maybe a pain in the *** for the scumbag trying to rip you off is worth it.

it is a good deterent.

no doubt. but my point is that it still buys you time that maybe if you are lucky the theif may move onto an easier target.

if u plan on getting a club get the one that extend down to the gas pedal which locks it and the top part locks the steering wheel.

I think that's an AutoLok...isn't it?

Clubs are no match for hacksaws. It takes a thief maybe 20 seconds to cut your steering wheel and pull out the club. Hopefully the thief sees your club and decides to go for a quicker target. As it was said before, it's really just a deterent...not full anti-theft device. Anything is "stealable".

Very true. However, I imagine that if one were to equip the interior with several loud hidden piezo sirens, 15 seconds may seem like an eternity to a thief, heh-heh.

When I use The Club, I use it with something called "The Shield." It is a pie-shaped metal contraption that covers the steering wheel and is held in place by The Club. It functions to slow a thief down during his "cutting." Unfortunately, TMK, I don't think its available anymore, but I've seen it on eBay every now and then.

Just get any clifford G4/G5 alarm and get the wireless immobilizer. Immobilizer is about $70.00 and cuts power to the fuel pump when the alarm is set off. Best part about it is that it is wireless so that theives won't be able to figure out why it won't start and can't trace anything back to the alarm.
