Default i cant get my trans OFF!!!

took out all the bolts.
the rear mount
the midshaft

its like 1" off the block now, and WONT COME OFF @#&!*@#%

i tried a prybar, and it just pivots... that side will open, but the other side closes up...
if i put somehting in the other side, nothing happens.

Use a little bit of pressure from the jack..

I had the same problem the first time i took my S20 tranny off.

I put the jack under the tranny and then used a pry bar and pryed and it eventually came off

Goodluck & PM me if you have any more questions.

Two stupid suggestions:
Is the tranny mount(s) off not just rear?
Are you sure you removed all of the bolts? Start on one spot on casing and work all the way around.

Remember that there is a splined shaft running through that. If you doing pull on it straight, it will not come out. I would keep trying to play with the jack. Get under there and wiggle it back and pull while pulling. If you have all the mounts and bolts out, then that is the only thing holding it in.

if you have it all disconnected just work your jack up and down and pry as you go up and down and side to side.
they are a bear, even when the whole engine and trans is out of the car.

The lower header bracket will rub of the flywheel cover until you remove it

Also don't forget the starter has a bolt that runs into the block as well

yea check the starter bolt, and the black metal dust shield thing on the bottom that goes over the tranny and block. Both of those could be causing your problem.

it can't. It's bolten to the tranny, and is behind the flywheel...remove it

If the starter was still connected, it wouldn't move 1" from the block.... Try setting the motor on the floor sitting on its oil pan, and get a pry bar on both sides and just go back and forth. Thats what I always do. Getting it back on the block is the tricky part .
