Labor will be more, most def.
What sites have you been looking at for motors? I know of several people that have swaped and are fine on their Imported JDM engines...many of them boosted for years so the engines were in good shape when the received them...

why would you choose a rebuilt motor over a jdm one? jdm motors will most likely have lower mileage and be less beat up. most of the motors over there are "junked" because of emission reasons not because they were crashed or are broken. if a motor had to be 'rebuilt' then it must of had alot of play with it to be in a position where it needed a rebuild, unless you are talking about a "built" motor (i.e. aftermarket forged pistons, rods, sleeve job, valvetrain, spring/retainers etc...) personally i dont trust rebuilt motors and trannies unless i was the one that had it rebuilt and knew the shop that rebuilt it would honor its warranties.

most engine importers do compression and leakdown tests on their motors and will guarantee that their motors arent DOA, with startup warranties.
