Hello.
Some weeks ago, I ordered and payed in advance a gt30r. Unfortunatly the company can not deliver the gt30r in the moment. Is it a good idea to take a gt35r instead of gt30r.
Engine is a fully buildt b16a2 with 83mm bore (with fullrace manifold).
Power goal is more than 500hp and a good "streetability".
What do you think should I wait for the gt30r or should I change to gt35r?
Differences in turbolag and spoolup?
Thanks
Kevin

I think taht for the lack of stroke that the b16 has (even if you bored out to 83mm) I personally would use the GT30R. 500 whp is barely streetable, though it is possible. In your location, the GT30R would do just fine..
GT30R I ran that before I upgraded on my 2.0L and had lots of fun with it. LS VTEC spools right around 3200 RPM, on my 2.0L it made 547 WHP at 22 PSI. If you are looking for around 400 max WHP look into a GT2835 from HKS quicker spool right around 2800 RPM

I really like the HKS 2835 Turbo.. It's a shame it is so expensive compared to some others, but it is nice that Garrett at least worked w/ HKS to make sure that these configurations exist.

How the hell did you make 550 WHP at insanely low boost on a turbo that only puts out 53 pounds a minute? Unless you forgot to mention your 100 horse hit of nitrous, I wanna see a dyno sheet.

He must be running a GT3040R(uses GT30 turbine w/ the same compressor as the GT35R)
hondaapi, go w/ the 35r. Best turbo out there for 500whp. You didn't specify which GT30r you ordered but if you have a 3037 or a 3035 your going to have to push it real hard to get 500whp out of it.

I was running a GT30R with a .82 turbine housing and made 512 WHP at 22 psi, changes to my GT30R with a GT40 compressor wheel and made 547 at the exact same boost level
here is my GT30 map
This was the second to last run of the day, since we were having porblems with the RPM pick up the dip at the top is associated with that as well as a boost contoller configuration. The run after this was 512WHP dont believe me then call Sean at Torque Freaks he was there

that is definatly possible. don't blinks 83mm ITR block did 386whp on 15psi on a street tune with the GT30R. 7psi more and a good tune it is definatly possible

Like I said, your using the GT40 56 trim compressor wheel, same as the 35r. Without that wheel it's going take alot of boost to hit 500 on a 35 or 37 compressor wheel. Probably enough to max em out. Your dyno looks really good though, id bet your 35r map looks just as good.

Yeah , i agree , wheel size as well as turbine housing side has some pretty dramatic effects on how much a turbo will flow as.I noticed with my GT30R that the .63 housing was the restriction so I moved it on up to a .82 and it became much better, it made a whole bunch more power. I have the big dog 1.06 housing too , but that is on the large size too laggy for me.
I will try and get my map emailed to me from Torque freaks and post it later

Ah, so with the 56 trim GT40 wheel it essentially becomes a GT35R with a smaller exhaust wheel? 502 WHP at 22 psi is still damn awesome, I wonder how much peak power it can make at 30+ PSI.
Yeah, it is just another variation of a GT30 thank you Garrett
. I am excited to see myself ;at 22-23 psi I was spinning on the dyno,my next trip down I am bringing my slicks and hopefully tuning to 28 psi.

good stuff. I was running the same turbo on my car. was great while it was on.
full boost on my stock b16 hit at 5000 rpm. (Saw some boost int he 3500 rpm zone)

Hey I just read the article on your car in Import tuner. Nice, congrats! Are you really selling it?

ok, i had the same question about the gt30r and the gt35r... i also have a b16, but mine is a 84mm bore. should i run a gt30r for better spool? i have a fully built engine with a full race kit, and want at least 450whp daily driver.
therefore, if i go with the gt30r, what compressor wheel should i go with?

i am currently running the gt35r on a b16 8:1 compression using je gsr 9:1 pistons. full spool comes around 5700 rpms. i had to turn the boost up past 15 psi in order to get the turbo to start making good power. i run 20 psi now.
