can you tell if a car is in good condition w/o the head???
I am going to look at a gsr tommmorw... The only thing is, is that it doesnt have a head.. He says that all it needs is a head to run.. Is there anyway of actually proving this w/o bolting on a head???
look at the cylinder walls(attn to cross-hatching), u could measure the cyl bores(see if they're out of round), check the block surface deck make sure its flat, spin the crank pulley make sure the crank turns freely. but all that is just for reassurance that it "MIGHT" run okay after you put a head on. It could still have bad bearings, bad piston rings, a bad oil and water pump.....BUT that doesn't mean it won't run. It just won't run good.
