Default best suspension set up accord

I have an accord 99 4 door and I am wondering what gear to get. I was interested in getting h & r OE sport springs paired up with some KYB GR-2 shocks. If anyone knows a better set up that isnt to painful on my wallet or if i need anything else to ensure performance and safety, ie; cambering, bumpiness...

Thanks

what it the car's intention?

a good drag suspension would be a crappy autocross suspension.

a good track suspension would bottem out at the street

there's not universal solution

I'm a big fan of the Eibach Pro-Kits paired up with any respectible brand of shocks/struts - even oem since they are only a 1.2" drop on most Accords, which is not going to be hard on a stock strut. But I'd recommend a pair of Koni or KYBs to match up with them just for extra unf.

Amen to that. I'm purchasing a set next year. Sleevovers suck!

nice comfy street driving? tein basic is a good choice.. good value and very nice ride for the street. plus you can adjust your height to your preference..

tru dat, i'm riding on tein coiovers too. they are sweet. stiff around corners but the dampening is so matched with the spring rate that the ride isn't harsh at all. can't go any better of a set up it u buy a shock that is designed for the spring and vice versa. mixing brands sometimes causes headaches.
but h&r race w/ koni yellows ride hella good too.

oh and don't buy the gr-2. they are a oem replacement. from my experience, they do not hold up well to a higher spring rate or lowered app.

you sure?

agx=

i would pick SS over agx w/ GC'S

and of course nothing beats custom rate GC with KONI yellow

check out GC's AD damper system
they are revalvable

the ride isn't harsh because of low spring rates and valving characteristics of the shock..high spring rates and agressively valved shocks will function well together but still give a rough ride regardless of it being a sleeve over or full coilover because they are both the same thing

[QUOTE=exr_pd],check out GC's AD damper system
they are revalvable[QUOTE]

gc ad is not meant to be used on the street..they are valed for smooth race tracks..they will break used on the pothole infested streets

and any shock can be revalved

If you just want a comfortable ride for daily driving without breaking your wallet then get a nice set of springs and struts. Good springs would be Eibach, Neuspeed, H&R. Eibach will prob be the softest spring and most comfortable ride (I have the sportlines). Good shocks would be Koni Yellows or Tokico Illuminas. As someone said above me, the GR-2's are just stock replacements, wont do anything. Get some nice Koni's or Tokico's, you wont regret it.

that is not correct...
comming from a owner that is riding on KYB AGX & H&R sport springs BTW.

you can't compare struts/shocks matted with a coil-sleve that is not made for that strut/shock...TEIN is a true coilover system, GC matted on some other companies struts/shocks are not and thus the ride quality will suffer and more importantly not perform optimally.

it doesn't matter if it's a true coilover system or not..shocks of perform the same duties and springs perform the same duties..they are both made of the same components

as long as a shock is valved with high enough numbers to dampen the springs, it is an optimal setup..this is all a shock does: dampen springs

all springs do is control how far a car will roll during cornering, braking and accelerating

what differs between shocks is HOW they are valved....how they differ on the shock dyno and at what speeds provide the most dampening will affect how a car rides and handles

when people say "coilovers are best because the shocks are valved perfectly to match the spring rates" this doesn't make sense at all..if this were true why would companies like tein offer higher or lower spring rates given the same valved shocks?

personally any good name brand full coilover pachage will ride good for street driving, plus you can put it on the highth you want your ride to be at. If you could get ahold of some apexi ws i heard they are good, but they are not made anymore. So you will have to look on ebay or in the classified sections of forums

Are you high or something? Tein SS would put that GC/AGX combo to shame.

for street use all you need is a set of agx's and springs. i have agx's with suspension techniques springs... and theyre great. theyre not gonna ride like a $1000 suspension, but then again, youre not paying that much either.
