Default running ipod straight from amp

i currently have my ipod 20gb setup running to a 4ch amp, but hooked up only to my rear speakers [40wx2]. i bought some rca adaptors so i can use the front speakers too, but im not sure if it is safe for the ipod. the power would be 40Wx4.
thanks for the help.

Interesting setup. I don't know how safe it is, I wouldn't say that I think it would be bad since is signal is coming from the IPod. I was just curious, do you have the remote wire still coming from your HU. Get some actual pics up.

It doesn't make a difference how many channels are on the amp. Just by some Y adapters. It doesn't affect the ipod in any way.

Thats what my roommate is doing, his head unit was stolen when his car was broken into. If your worried about signal quality they make some line out jacks on some non-apple "auto chargers" that would give a cleaner signal than the headphone jack would.

This setup would work. It is really no different from the way people used to hook Walkmans to their amps back in the day.
