Air Conditioner filter
The air conditioning filter, also known as Cabin filter is located on the passenger side, behind the glove box. If you do search for this forum, you should be able to find DIY instructions for replacement.
Remeber, you will need two filters, as they come in pairs. I change them every 30,000 miles.

No, it's not an obvious place. I changed mine in my '99 LX at 30,000 miles, it was barely even dirty, I'm not changing it again until 90,000 miles (currently I'm at 70,000 miles). It is a pain in the (butt) to get to, and the last step is trying to get it out (and the new one back in) from behind a metal bar or two.
Definately do it at least once, but you will need instructions. I highly recommend picking up a Haynes manual for your car (maybe $14 from Pepboys, Autozone, etc), it will tell you how to get to it as well as other things for your car.
If I remember right, it took me about 30 minutes to change it and put the car back together.
