Default 5G Distributor Ignitor Questions - Replace Options?

Before my recent swap I noticed that the RPMs were occationally jumping when I'd wind the gears out to 6000RPM+. (Usually around 6300-6500...)

Anyway, I've had this symptom before and it was the distributor ICM (or ignitor).

I purchased a replacement distributor from a vendor here at Honda-Tech, but the repalcement is somewhat cheesey. For instance, the rotor can not be removed for replacement. However, it does seem to work.

In the mean while I'd like to find a replacement for the ICM chip in the distributor.

The part number reads: "E12-303" "Hitachi" "2604" on it.

Is there an cost effective aftermarket source for this item? I think it was also used in certain accords.

The distributor us a TD-77U.

Default Re: 5G Distributor Ignitor Questions - Replace Options? (gerhard)

I was just reading another thread from another forum... and someone indicated that the ITR's VTEC distributor has a better ignitor in it... and that it'll work in just about any other Honda VTEC motor.

Anyone know if this is true or a good idea?
