Buddy Club IVs too much cam?
Seen several dynos of 2L motors, but none for a 1.8L.
I love the midrange/top end combination I've seen of the Buddy Club IVs cams on the 2L motors, but I'm worried that ~12:1 LS/vtec won't be enough for them. More specifically, if i should order the Skunk2 stg2/Blox Spec Bs instead.
I'd order the BC 3+s, but i'm afraid i'd be disappointed with the top end.

i would suggest the 3+ vs skunk2/blox/wicked/jerry's racing/ib whoever is calling them theirs..

Would you also suggest the 4 over the 3+? The dyno plots i've seen look very similar between the two with the exception being the top end. If that's the only diff, would the 4s be a better choice and allow me a little room to grow?

the 4s only continue the topend where the 3+ left off. the 3+ is PERFECT for ls/vtecs with high comp and even b20s that wont be revved past 8200. im not taking my lsvtec past 8200 cause the cams will have maxxed out by then. this is on a 12.8:1 comp on my lsvtec and being that im using the stock revlimit, ive managed to still use stock valvesprings and retainers. if i want, i can always upgrade to the 4s if im not happy. it leaves me room to grow. and so does engine management.

3+ also offer a far better overall rate/tune through out the power band..

ur using stock valve train on BC 3's?? umm that looks like a huge problem , what are u gonna do when ur valve train is distroyed??? not very smart there..

Well i've got Hondata, so tuning is not a problem.
The other question i have is that i already have the Skunk2 (supertech made) springs and supertech retainers, anybody ran this combination with Buddy Club cams before? I do not want to replace the springs/retainers.

bc3+ can be used with stock valve train. so i am using my stock valvetrain cause im not revving over stock limit....so
my valve train wont be destroyed...maybe you should continue your research bud.

well how high do you want to rev? i'm sure that valvetrain will let you rev as high as the buddy club 4's make power.

I went with spec IVs and my motor isnt even in the 12.x:1 range.
Buddy Clubs 3+ are good for stock engines.
Buddy Club USA suggest at least 11.1 for spec IV.

that is one of the things we all suggested with the IV's with they came out. to get and obtain their power and get the most of out the cams. its required you get aftermarket Valvetrain to reach those limits..

ive already built a setup like this in a 1.8 configuration buddy club stage 4, and we had to jack the vtec up to 6400. it was way over cammed. lost a ton of tq, ithad good top end. but it was definetly a few steps backwards.. stick the bc stage 3 plus. for your setup for the skunk stage 2 cams. good luck.

can you post the dyno to see the curve? What this motor a b18c1? compression? exhuast diameter...any more detail would be great!

the compression of the motor was 11.5:1, it was 1.8 lsvtec jg edelbrock headers with 2.5 collector. the owner of the car has the dyno sheet. but i can tell it looked sorry. and the hondata was tuned by "bubba"a very skilled tuner. car will go back on blox stage 2s

yeah, your like the second guy that mention that the BC4s won't do much for 1.8Ls.
still waiting for those you bought the last few sets of BC4s to popped in here!

Unfortunately I can't give any feedback right now but look for some dyno's in February of the 4's with a 1.8ltr.
Setup will be for my H1 car.
-New ITR shortblock with CTR pistons 81mm
-ITR intake manifold and Throttle Body
-B16a2 head with "mild" headwork and valve job (OEM valves)
-Rocket motorsports Gen2 springs and retainers
-Buddy Club spec 4's and gears
-RC 370 injectors
-Toda header
-PasswordJDM intake (J's style)
-Quaife, Toda flywheel and ATS 4.9FD
-Hondata S200

I'm no expert in this field but I myself bought some BuddyClub IV for the 1.8 liter 11.9:1 compression motor I'm trying to put together.
From the specs I've seen BC4 have similar to JUNIII/Skunk2 2 lift with Toda C/D's duration.
We all have seen dynos of above mentioned cams make good power on 1.8L ~11.x:1 compression motors so I figured BC4 would too.
I probobly won't know until I dyno which won't be for a while but I woulnt mind
some more input from tuners/builders.
