hi.. i was searching through the archived pages of jdm headlights... i was figuring out how to wire them.. as i was going through the files i found out that the turn signals dont come on with the city lights/running lights.. i want to cut the constant going to the corners when i do get the jdm headlights.. is this illegal to have the corners off and the just the headlights on?? i know they will still work when i blink though..

bottom line:
is it illegal to have the headlights on and the corner lights off at night(will still blink)???

 

all lights must function normally so the corner lights (parking lights) must be on when the light switch is on

 

its all good, i already did the same thing your talkin about, its been over 3 months now, and i feel like connecting them back together. yes they still work when you hit the turn signals.

 

As long as they blink your good.

 

Technically the JDM lights are already illegal. Realistically it probably won't matter.

You're "supposed" to have at least one pair of orange/amber parking lights in the front but who's gonna nitpick on some mundane detail like that?

 

most people get sik of it when they wire it "JDM" just leave it....

Realistically it won't matter at all.
I have a set of EK9s on my Civic and I was once pulled over for having the parking lights with city lights on (they were wired together). He was giving me some **** about how my headlamps are ilegal since they don't have the amber reflector like they should although I have amber bulbs. Also the fact that I'm not supposed to even have city lights... it was in the dark so he said I needed my headlamps on instead of city lights, which is true but I was in a well lite parking lot so I didn't bother.... He gave me a ticket for loud exhaust...
Cops will always find a way to rape you; it's their job. I say keep your corners man, cause it'll jsut attract cops to give you a dumb 30 dollar ticket in the end, plus IMHO the headlamps /wo corners are kinda weird/dumb looking, but original.

my corners dont light up fro about a year now and i have never been bothered by a cop

 

city lights are not illegal, seeing that factory cars like VW have them. Also they only have a blinking turn signal up front and no parking (because it is inside the headlight)

^ what he sed,i get pulled over for goddamn every thijng"no light over the license plat being the most recent ticket.i have no runnig lights in the front of my 91 si,they dont even have bulbe in them"the ones nder the light" and i have never had a problem with it yet.i wouldnt worry about it.plus my corners look like a fish tank.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I just kept giving the cop excuses. He said that i was revving my motor, i told him i had a bad idle. He said my exhaust was too loud, I have the World Sport 2 (yeah right, too loud). He said i didn't have my seatbelt on, i was rolling in first doing, at most, 5mph. After i gave him all my excuses, he finally let me go.

 

i live in san diego and just have my headlights on, no corners and cops see me all the time and dont do nothign...they rahter see my headlights like that then some other eg with some bright *** fake hid bulbs(cops here love those guys)

 

I recently installed my JDM headlights, and to get the city lights to be on with the corner lights, I simply spliced the + city light wire into the red wire that connects to the turn signal bulb. That way, when you turn on your parking lights, your city lights AND parking lights will work at the same time.

Also, there is no special wiring needed to get the headlight and the parking light to be on at the same time.

 

thanks for all the input guys.. i'mma end up doing this now since it doesnt seem like a major thing.. and i researched on how to wire them up thats how i learned about the corners not being lit with the headlights..
