Default rev limiter

Today i reved my car to like 8 in 2nd gear but it didnt hit a rev limiter. Is that bad? and it felt like it was still pullin after 7500. When do the rev limiters kick in on 5th gens?

Every dyno sheet I've seen for preludes without extreme modification shows that power drops off around 7200. As far as a rev limiter, there's no reason you should be revving that high, unless you wanna stretch your rods.

If it was still pulling after 75, <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ItalynStylion &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Sounds like your tach was off...</TD></TR></TABLE>
Also, the limiter is at 82 I believe

On the tach, yes, maybe 8200rpm depending on how off it is. In real engine speed, 76xx rpm.

fuel cut is at 7800....not related to what the tach may say. Nail the rev limiter with a V-AFC and have it hold the max...you'll see. Or just take my word for it.

how dangerous is it to take an h22a4 to rev limit without any modifacations, totally stock 00 SH, I haven't done it just for fear of bending a valve which might have happened on a miss-shift anyway

It would probably be ok but there is no reason to rev that high b/c you wont make any power way up there, so why even chance it. It would be best for you to stay fearful of winding that high.

It's not recommended to hit it, but that is what it's there for. Bending valves is when you miss-shift and mechanically the engine has to go above 7800 rpms no matter how much fuel and ignition you cut

Yes well I think I miss-shifted 3 days after I bought the car... it still idles and runs great but the car feels like it has lost a lot of power... I don't know what to do. I hear a lot of ticking from the valve cover but my honda dealership said it was normal. I think they are full of it. Any suggestions? My tools are limited.
