How Much Longer on SA95 Helmets
The GCR just says "SA95 or newer." It doesn't say how much longer it'll be good.
When is the cutoff?
Scott, who is sure he actually knows the answer but can't remember.

It will be good until they (CRB) change/update the requirement. SA05 Helmets will not be available until late next year. SA2000 won't be required until the '06 season at the earliest. I'd guess the change will occur for '07.
That being said, it is worth updating helmets more often than every 10 years. At a minimum check to make sure that the strap webbing is in good condition and that there is no corrosion on the rivets attaching the strap to the helmet. The corrosion occurs from our head sweat and there have been cases of failure.

I asked the same question a few months back and the best answer I got was "SA00 will probably be required by start of 2006" but that was very unofficial.

It may vary depending on the series and/or the organization holding the event.
For example, a lot of clubs wait for helmets with the new standard to be available on the market for about a year before disallowing the second previous standard. (They do this because helmets with the new standard are always in short supply when they first hit the market.)
I am expecting that if the SA05 hit the market in October 2005, a lot of groups will still allow SA95 to be used for most of their events in 2006.
