turbo guys planning on using a FAL fan,i just discovered something that can save u $$ on one
moderators if you feel this is in the wrong forum, please relocate.
reason i posted here is because i know alot of turbo guys modify their fan and some actually upgrade to the FAL fan.
anyhow down to the nitty gritty, i was looking at my summit catalog today and noticed summit sells the FAL fans that look very similiar to the FAL fans that are meant for the honda/acuras EXCEPT they cost ALOT CHEAPER! for the same fan!
ok,pay attention now theres a little twist.
ok heres the difference, the fal fans for the honda/acuras have the brackets and a plug for a direct replacement.
the fal fans that are the same (and i mean same! i called summit and asked for the dimensions AND SPECS!) MINUS THE BRACKETS and MINUS A plug
except heres the funny part
the FAL fans that have the brackets and plugs for our cars cost:
part # FLX-125 $169.95 (92-99 CIVIC single fan)
PART # FLX-225 $ 299.95 (94-99 intagra dualfan)
NOW HERES THE KICKER! the same exact FAL fans minus the brackets and plug:
part # FLX-120 $89.95!!!!!!! (civic)
part # FLX-220 $183.95!!!!! (INTEGRA)
oh and one little thing is these only come in black as opposed to the 1st fans i listed that come in red, blue yellow and black. i could care less about the fancy colors.
i dont know about you but its not hard for me to splice 2 wires and make 4 little straps to hold the fan on,if you look at the fans and see one installed youll know what im talking about.
thanks for listining to my rant!
enjoy.

Ben from importparts told me the exact same thing when I was gonna order some fans. I ended up keeping my stock ones and modifing them because Im the king of cheap.
But thanks for the good info because alot of people probably didnt know this..

you king of cheap? ha i am the crown prince of el-cheapness!
i even asked the sales rep what the difference was and he chuckeled. i might go w/ the FAL fan cause i have a GSR motor stuffed in my civic and i'm using the del-sol dual core radiator so room is pretty tight once the turbo is slapped on.

You can save more than that by not buying the name. I bought a $80 fan from Jeg's. Can be mounted in front or in stock location. Its thin, and it pushes MORE air than FAL 12", SPAL 12", or Fluidyne 12" (1200CFM).
or u can be the king of king cheapos and not buy a new fan at all! stock fan is good enough for me.
true, but it's not so simple when you have a b18c1 in a civic along w/ the thicker del-sol radiator. not much room left for a filter for the turbo.

check out my fans.. don't they look purdy???
Oh never mind, I forgot I stuft them between the intercooler and radiator. It's a gsr radiator in a 92 civic. I bought 2 12" flex fans although one would of probably been sufficient from autozone for a measly 49.99.
Cooling system is not a problem for me AT ALL!
