Does it make a big diff. if you run a 4in rather then a 3in exhaust??what are the benefits..i know less back pressure but is it really worth it??

I don't agree with that statement care to explain how it won't clear anything with out jacking up your car?

(not trying to jack your thread) i was wondering the same thing. If you are running the full-race top mount and you run the 4 inch downpipe, wouldnt it make since to run a 4 inch exhaust? Would you have the 4 inch downpipe and hook it up to your 3 inch until you go to the track and run open down pipe? Oh yeah and shooting for the 650whp with a t3/t67 w/ p wheel.

for your application, a 4" downpipe is not really necessary to make the power, but I would use the 4" if I were you because it should make a little more power and the turbo will spool faster
I am going to use a 4" downpipe and I am going for 800+whp
It is probably best to either run downpipe dumped all the time or hook it to a 3" exhaust for street, because a 4" pipe will not fit very well all the way back.

why not just run an electric cutout or some other kind of dump?about 4-5" after my downpipe bolts to the turbo,i have an electric cutout with a 3" turndown coming off it.doesn't get much freer flowing than that.you can still have a quiet exhaust for cruising around, and no restriction at all when you need it.i think they even make a 4" version if you want to go that extreme.

So basically if i were to switch to the top mount i should use the 4inch downpipe and just keep my 3 inch exhaust. Then when i go to the track run open down pipe. Thanks i didnt want to go through the head ache of switching exhaust, plus this is still a street car that i drive often. So 4 inch exhaust is overkill for any (true) street car. And if you are not shooting for 750+ then dont bother, right
my opinion is that when you are shooting for 600+whp that a 4" downpipe is a good idea but not totally necessary unless you want to get as much power as possible
I will probably drive mine around with the 4" dp dumped, but I also have a 3" exhaust that I can hook up if I want to.
Basically if you have a 700+whp honda, you probably really don't give a **** about street legal status even if you drive it on the street. I really don't care myself.
The issue with having a 4" exhaust that goes all the way back is clearance. It really won't fit all that well and will rub and clank on things if it fits at all.
Unless you have a Supra or something.

some examples we did exhaust on my friends car... we dynoed it open 3" downpipe then made 4" exhaust from the DP back and redynoed and made more power.
I am running 4" from the turbo back on my street car

Hey, you gotta give the people what they want
Seriously though, if you're runnin enough horses to need 4" exhaust you're probably not streetable....so you might as well just run 4" open down pipe.

When i first started i ran the 3 inch and i used to trap 124 ish and when i would run open exhaust i would trap 128 ish. As soon i ran full 4 inch it went back up to 128 so

What kind of HP are you making? 4" DP too? Hmmm.....maybe I should consider 4" exhaust for my street/strip teg

I dont see the point in this 4" craze.
people make numbers all day on 3". There's many full race cars out there on full 3" exhuast setups. I remember a post a whle back about someone making over 400 on a 2.25" exhuast setup.
4' is alot to stuff under a civic, 3.5 is just as bad

why use an exhaust if your goin for 8000+ whp? obviouslty itns not gonna be a street car

3.5" isnt that tough if properly done right

you're right
that's why I am going to run the 4" downpipe dumped even though I do drive it on the street. It isn't exactly a daily driver though, more of a when I want to drive it car.
but I already have a 3" exhaust that I could use if I feel like it.

i am looking to smoke modded bikes, vettes, vipers, supras, exotics, etc. on the highway and run good times in the 1/4 as well
not looking to be a 1/4 only car
yes it will be just gas (c-16)
i'll have nitrous to spool the turbo (SP71 GTQ), but the nitrous will cut off at certain boost
big turbo, c-16, built motor, 35+psi, bad *** tuning make a fast integra
Motec to run all this
