I'm sitting at a red light going to work and all of a sudden my CEL comes on. I didn't really think anything of it until the car started idling weird a couple seconds later. The idle would rapidly jump from 700-2000rpms. This went on till I pulled in and cleared the code. Car drove fine, just the idle was really crazy. Anyone know why the idle would be so crazy when I got my CEL???

 

whats the code number? or the dtc?

 

most like a code 14 your idle air control vavle. very notorious for the up and down idle

 

i had this problem last week. take off the valve (should be on the back of the intake mani, mine was [b16]) and clean it out with carb cleaner. mine just had build-up in it and it was perfectly fine after that...if that dosent work get a new valve.


oh...assuming its CEL 14

 

Yeah, it's happened before. I already cleaned out the valve. The idle ONLY jumps up and down after the CEL comes on.....
