Default 91 Civic not starting - need some suggestions

Hi. my civic sedan has no dash lights with key in the on position . However it does start and run (and dash lights come on) as long as you have the key turned to start position. As soon as you let go of the key and it returns to on position the engine dies as if you cut the power. I think its the ignition switch , but that all checked out with ohm meter and following chilton "check" etc .. I will go tomorrow and get a new ignition switch but wanted to see if anyone else had seen this symptom / problem and if it could be something simpler than the ig switch replacement??

Yes. Buy the ignition switch as you stated and fix your problem. And no it couldn't be simpler
