Removing vtec solenoid, dump oil or no?

Simple Q

i'm just curious, I feel like taking my vtec solenoid off and polishing it today.
(jdm d15b vtec sohc). Is oil going to squirt outta there? or is that only with the engine running?

If so do I need to dump my oil or can I just plug it up with a rag or somethin..

throw a rag over it and do not start it.

i wouldnt drain the oil
