D16Y7 Built Bottom End with A6 Head???
Yeah, I know it has been covered before but I did a quick search and couldn't come up with anything. I'm in the position to get a Y7 for free (my second motor so I can build it) and I need to know if there are any issues (wiring or otherwise) mating my A6 head to that block and putting that in the rex. Does doing the head swap affect the compression? If so how?
Thanks for the help

only thing i can think of is that the d16a6 has the oil restrictor in the block and i think the y's have it in the head, because the y8 has vtec. im not sure of the y7, though. i know the y's have bad oil problems and weaker bottom ends than the a6, but if its free, take it. the a6 head is one of the worst d series cylinder heads, so again use it if you have it, but if you can, get a different one.
on a side note, its a really common trend for people with new civics with y engines to take the d16a6 block and use their heads and stuff, because of the a6's great oiling and full girdle over the crank.

~Cough~ Going to have to call a foul on the call, A6 actually flow the best OUT OF THE BOX, followed by Z6s and Y8s.

the oil jet is in the block on the odb1 civics, and there is not one in the y7 and y8. there is a cool website some guy made that is a compression calculators for civic d series. check it out. but your set up should work fine. i just dont know what 92-95 civic is the vtec one the a6 or z6. but if you stick with non vtec no problems if you are using the y7 ecu or a odb1 non vtec. but if you are putting on a vtec head then you need to convert from a 3 wire iacv to a two wire if you use the intake mani. and also wire vtec wires and use a y8 or p28 ecu.

I already have a Chipped P06 with Uberdata. So everything should work just fine? Any other opnions? What about the compression ratio?
Thanks

The oil jet is in the block for an A6, and in the head for a Y7. So I don't know what you're going to do about that issue.

I'm confused about the oil jet that your talking about...what does that do?
Thanks for the link.
Also is that true about the A6 having better oiling than the Y's. I'm not concerned about the stock internals (other than the crank) because this one will be filled with goodies.
