Is that a joke?

If you're serious about competition, give the GC/Eibach combo a try with your Konis. It is SO easy to change spring rates witht he Eibachs which allows you to dial in just the right spring rate for your car. Have a look here for some deals: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=553330

I don't know **** about drag spring rates, but if you do your homework first it will give you a range to start. Then you can fine tune it from there.

. . . if you want to waste your money.

Here's another recommendation for Ground Control coilovers. Find out what sort of spring rates people are running on their street-driven drag Civics, so you can get an idea of what you'll want - then call up Ground Control and order a set of their coilovers (let them know you'll be using Koni Sports) with the spring rates that you want. Then, if you ever want to change rates in the future, you can just buy Eibach ERS springs in pairs and swap them out. Easy and versatile

Nope not a joke. I have tein ss on my daily driven hatch and they give a much more stock feeling ride and i have the car slammed. I had GC before and the Teins beat them hands down. Plus if i need to run it at the track i have 16 levels of dampening to play with. Its expensive but i think it was worth the money. I can get the car plenty stiff enough for launching at the drags so i really can't complain. Why not spend the money and have the best of both worlds. Comfort when you need it, and a stiff *** set up for the track. Also you can get other springs from tein or call them to customize your set up. Why use koni when you can use tein. If you are really serious about what you need this suspension for, then i would spend the money and get tein...........it's not a waste of money.

tein makes a great product but it's not going to be the best for what he needs....

the koni / gc setup isn't a bad choice at all... and for the money it can't be beat.

there are much more extreme setups out there and you could get a drag coilover setup that would have no place on the street but you'd have quite the sacrifice not only in ride quality but in safety (while on the street).

depending on the setup of your car and what your 1/4 et expectations are, you might not see any differences on your time slips between a tein and gs/koni setup... but if you've got plenty of motor and rubber to get that power to the ground the tein isn't going to cut it.

how about you bring "tein" equiped car and let my civic(GC/koni) lay the smack down on it at SOLO 1 or 2.

I think you missed the point here we are talking competion, not a Street Driven stunna who want green shock bodies, with 16 level of damping(can you tell what that does i doubt you know what you even adjusting) that doesnt have the range of a multi adj koni.

For the orignal poster i dont much about drag racing except you want to get rid of rear squart when launching, i would go as high in rate as you can take with GCs and you should be fine, probably in the 350- 500 range all around depending how bumpy the roads are.

Tein ss was designed to combine sport handling and driving comfort. It was also designed for weekend racind and/or daily driving. That is why i bought them. And i wouln't care if the shock bodies were HOT PINK smartass. If your budget has you convinced that some koni yellows and GCs are a better set up than what Tein has to offer fine let your walllet control brain. Oh and the original poster stated that he does a lot of drag racing and i doubt that he is driving a 500+ horsepower civic so what ever spring shock combo he goes with isn't going to REALLY make a **** of difference getting off the line. My point is why not spend a little bit of money and get a full coilover system and not sacrafice daily driving comfort. We are not all into road racing or whatever the hell it is you do with your car.

Well my car isn't a race car. I like to take it to the drags every now and then and have some fun. The teins ride nice to me, and i really don't care if anyone else likes them or not.

Just so we're clear... expensive = better?

It's not my budget that has caused me to recommend the Koni/GC/Eibach to the original poster. Hell, my budget isn't important, it's HIS budget that matters. We'll let him decide, but I hope he's smart enough not to choosed based on price alone.

I'll admit my inexperience when it comes to drag racing suspensions once again, but that seems like a pretty ignorant statement. Do you honestly think that sub-500 HP drag cars should shift their focus to comfort on the daily commute because suspension performance "isn't going to REALLY make a **** of difference?"

I think we're all aware that the original poster is concerned with drag racing performance regardless of what we do with our own cars. The recommendation is the same for the reasons given in the posts above.

Hmm, someone in the shock trade (associated with a manufacturer) told me that Teins are actually some generic japanese brand (like a Gabriel shock would be in the US) that has been blinged and had a 16 click adjustment. If there isn't squat change from one click to the other what does sixteen clicks mean? Don't know if that is true or not. But then I had some Supra buddies who like their teins for the money. But then not many people has the $$ for Motons.

BUT I have run GC/Eibach/Koni combo from turbo rwd cars to my now fwd b18c CRX and it is a great combination for a non-custom valved $$$ shock. Eibachs ERS can be picked at different rates, the GC sleeves work very well, and my Koni may not click but from full soft to full stiff you can really tune the suspension. The Konis have a big adjustment range. I am not a drag racer and do road course stuff instead. Thumbs up to Koni. They have been an established leader in motorsports and in the industry for a long time. There is a reason for that. Great Products.
