These will help a bit next year...
Yoko A032R. A nice tire for track days. Not the fastest choice for D Street Prepared autocrossing. I would recommend a 13" Hoosier A3S04. Given equal cars and drivers, the Hoosier shod car will win by about 0.5 - 1.0 secs depending on course.
But the problem with the Hoosier tire is that you can't drive it on the street. So, if you need to drive to the event on the same tires that you compete on then the Yok is a pretty good choice.

My wallet isn't big enough right now for the Hoosiers. Plus, Yokohama is sponsoring me next year, so these fit the bill quite nicely.
No complaints here.
I ran two events late this season in DSP, on 2 yr old Kumho Ecsta V700s, and took two 1st place trophies home. So I think I can be competitive locally. Time will tell. Nationally and Divisionally though, I think I'm at a huge disadvantage. I'm only starting out with 118hp at the flywheel stock, and that doesn't really compare to those BMWs and Lexus'. But the name of the game is fun, right?
Hopefully an EVO school next April will help a bit as well. The car does have potential, as it's basically STS-prep with R-compounds. Still lots of stuff I can do when the time is right.

Those are nice! What do you look for when looking for a good autocross tires. Ive heard good and bad things about Falken Azenis and they aren't too expensive. Also what size rim is perferred for autocrossing if you have a preference?
What tires are in the pictures, i've never seen them before

From what I heard alot of people that I auto-x/road-race with said they like the Azenis way more. I have a set of Azenis and I love them, but wondering if the extra $ is worth it for the A032R's!

People like the Azenis because they are really cheap for the performance/life you get out of them but it doesn't change the fact that they are street tires.
Yok, Kumho, Toyo and Hoosier race tires will all grip better but they don't last as long and cost more. Anyone in serious competition will not be using Azeins unless required by rules (ie Autocross classes such as STS)

thanks. Would you say that for a 93 civic hatchback, 15 inch rims would be the best size rim to use for autocross or would it big bigger or smaller. I have a set of rota's 16 inch rims and all my buddies say get 15's i'm just wondering if i would get better handling with a smaller rim.

A032r's are far superior to the azenis, I have driven both on track extensively and the azenis are pretty much garbage in comparison IMO. Not saying the Azenis are bad tires just that when you compare the two there really is no comparison.

Street tires!!!!!!
Any street tire... Just go do it.. Then if you like Autocrossing snag a rulebook and look to see what class you car will be in the you chose a tire!!! But I always tell people tires are the 2nd best improvement to your car, the Driver is 1st. So just go do it. AutoX is like nothing in daily driving so blasting around town wont help you times on course it takes runs and lots of them. So just make sure your car is safe and go have fun..

Everything.
When you start out, do not worry about changing anything on your car. Just make sure it is in good working order and that you have good brake pads and good brake fluid. That's it.

See above.
Good luck and have fun.

Very True.
Very True.
Like others have said, tire/wheel size depends upon the class. In STS, the hot tire/wheel seems to be 205/50 mounted on a 15x7. When I was running STS, I was running 195/60 on a 14x5.5, just due to the fact I didn't have a large wheel budget at the time for 15s.
When I moved to DSP, I opted for a Diamond Racing 13x8. The 13s will give you better acceleration and shorter gearing over the stock wheel size, assuming your stock size is larger than 13in.

Nice tires! But I didnt realize the A032r's were held in such high regards...(Getting me excited to use my a032r's for the 05 autox season now!)

I would say that is a common setup but the hot setup would be to use a 15x7.5 wheel.

Compared to street tires, yes. But they are a knife in a gun fight compared to Hoosiers and a little less so compared to Kumhos.
