NEED TIRES !
i tried to do a search on yokahamas but there have been no posts . really i am just looking for a very good tire to auto X with and street race . tire wear is not a prob as long as they last one summer . i want the YOK AVS INTERMEDIATES but they dont make them any more . anyone know where to get them ? how are the FALKEN AZENIS tires ? thanks for your help and time !
Yeah the Falken Azenis RS
are your choice for excellent dry grip and pretty decent wet too. Or if you have a little more cash then Pole Position S-O3s do nicely too.

my 16 inch 205/45 kumho 712 works wonders in rain i dont feel any resistance against the tires @ 80mph in the rain..ive heard they are good griping tires on dry..but ive found that get squirlly when im going along on the hiway and hit those damn lines...cant describe them but they run along the hiway pavement length wise
Anyone use S03's here?
I'm particularly curious about width...here is a quote from s2ki.com from a miata user:
sidewall to sidewall, my 195/50-15 S-03s are wider than my 205/45-16 Kumho ECSTA V700 autocross tires! You could say that mine look like they are squeezed onto the rim, even though a 6.5" wide wheel is well within the normal range for a 195/50-15 tire.
So I want to run a 205 tire on my '99 hatch, but am worried it's going to show up like a 215 or something, and then I feel there will be a lot of rubbing!!
Anyone?? Thanks

the S03s didn't prove themselves at the Solo II Nationals this past year - plus they are hellishly expensive.
I have Falken Azenis tires and they are the closest thing to race tires for the street - they even pick up pebbles and stones like my race tires did.

Falken Azenis have a 200 (cough, cough, wink, wink) UTQG tread rating. You can find them at Tires.com (to your door) or you can order them at a Discount Tire store. So far with less then 200 miles on my they seem to do just fine for wet roads. I bought mine mainly for Auto-Xing, Kumho 712s are on my Slipstreams, but needed to scrub them in a bit so I have them on right now. Great tires they are but they are also larger in size then another tire of the same size (ie 205 is nearly a 215!!).
Kumho 712s are also a fantastic tire for aggresive dry and wet street driving, but they also just release thier new Kumho MX!!! Could be on par with the Azenis too!!
