Default Drag racing RSX owners...HELP

I searched the drag forum already and I searched here as well.

Before I post for the 1st time in the RSX forum I'd like to introduce myself. My name is my user name. I drive a boosted ITR (in my avatar) I'm currently deployed to Iraq (in the Air Force). Originally from Miami FL but stationed in Shreveport, LA. (sucks there..lol)

OK I'm asking this for a friend of mine who is having very bad traction issues at the track. He hooks really good on the streets and beats 13 sec cars all day long (BAD) but cant break a 14.1 at the strip. I was wondering what kinda tire/wheel combo you track guru's were running? I read about changing to the base line RSX wheels but I don't think he's wanting to lose the good braking the Type-S comes with. Is there a upgraded after market braking system that he could mount 15's over? Are there wheels spacers? What are some options? Also if you got some good 60 ft times you can post with your set up that might help him out too....thanks for your time

Erik B

What mods does he have? I run falken azenzis I line up traction pretty decent. I wouldn't bother going with 15'' wheels. He could go up to 17's and run drag radials. But it would slow him down alot. My suggestion would to get azenzis and then just practice launching.

Get some Kumho MX's. They're sticky and they're light.

Best 60ft so far with them is a 2.08, but I pull consistent 2.10-2.15. The car runs consistent 13.7-8's. Full interior.

What up Jesse yeah I'm sure there 13 sec cars...one is my boys s2k...runs 13.8/9's and he beats him pretty bad.

Um he has that I can remember:

Hondata reflash
AEM CAI
Comptech race header
Apexi N1 exhaust

His best time was a 14.2 @98 or 99 mph I think. I know one of our other boys drove it and was able to get it down to a 14.1@100mph. With those trap speeds the car should be well in the 13's. I told him I'd run 17's too with good tires and practice more. I told him he should just go out one day and do nothing but 100 ft runs till he gets his 60ft down to 2.0's or 2.1's.

Curious as to what his suspension setup consists of? Primarily the spring rates. Also does he play with tire pressures at all?

Does he have ES motor mount inserts? That would certainly help as it reduces
wheel hop.

yes he does have inserts and he's running the Tein SS coilovers. I've told him to play with tire pressure and coilover setting before.

Jesse I think you know him...Damion, Black RSX with the Mugen style body kit and Volk wheels. I'm not sure if he's rolling to IFO down in HTOW tho...he'll go to the one in Shreveport and BR I know for sure. The one in OKC too...

I'm going to have him get on here and give you guys more feed back from his technics and what not at the track...maybe you guys could help him break that 13 sec slip (he's been after for a while now...lol) He's bout to boost it soon tho but wants to hit that 13 sec 1st all motor...haha

If he has the tein ss's, he should try to put it stiff all around at the track. Tracks are generally smooth (the one near here sucks and has dips), and having it stiff would put more effort on your mounts and tire traction to help you get down the track. Driver skill makes a big difference also. His launch is prolly hurting him. Practice makes perfect.

Yes they are adjustable

Anyway thanks Prettylude. I had told him soft in the front stiff in the back. I'll tell him to try stiff/stiff

No problem. Many think you need to stiffen the rear to prevent weight to transfer to the rear and it's true but they leave hte front soft which helps the weight transfer. Stiffening the front will help with that and he'll only have wheelspin to control. Keep us updated.

They are 16 way dampening adjustable and height adjustable. You can refer to the tein website for clarification. The only one tein makes that are not dampening adjustable are the Tein Basics.

Anyway guys he was able to cut a 14.007 with a 2.1 60ft on his 18's. One of our other boys was able to click off a 13.9 in his car. (he's going backout for more wheel time this weekend I think) Really I think that's all he needs.

Anyway Jesse I'm trying to get him to go with a fully custom kit. Chances are I'll take him up to Tony sometime soon see what Tony says. I'm waiting for Tony to get back to me to help with my setup so we can line them up here soon
