96 civic ex front end wobble
hi everyone i have a question about my 96 honda civic ex... ok last year i replaced the tranny and ever since then it seems like my civic has had a bad front end wobble... and i don't know if it could be the tranny or the cheap napa auto part axle that i put in at the same time or if its my rotors on my breaks... it just seems like it was every since the tranny... could it be that maybe one of the mounts are bolted down tight enough... please help me on ideas... i also have a couple other problems in other topics on here if you want to help solve them too... thanks...
did you replace the tranny yourself or did you have a shop do it? If you did it, then you would know if you tighted up everything good. It never hurts to go back and recheck everything to make sure no bolts or anything came lose. I would check the axle nut also.
thanks, yea me and my friend did it ourselfs but i didn't have a good air gun when we did it a year ago do the bolts are probly not tight enough... and thats a good idea about the axle nut... i am going to have to take the wheels off and hit them both one day with a good air gun and make sure they are tight and then go back and hit all the tranny bolts with a good air gun... so its a good free step that might be the problem... i just hope its that and not my rack in pion going or like tie rods or something.... thank you though
when you drive, let go of the steering wheel, does the car go in one direction or the other? when you turn the wheel left right left right, does it feel loose? check the transmission mounts also to see if they are torn or loose.
hi nahh it doesn't really pull unless i hit like a bump or something then it pulls hard... but when i do the left right thing it does seem kinda loose and thats why i was woundering if it was my rack in pion or something... cause even sometimes it feels like the wheel is just turning the less then the wheels are or something like when i am doing 60 and i got to switch lanes fast and i jerk the wheel it seems like theres alot play in the wheel... its hard to explain but it just doesn't feel right... i am getting fed up with my whole suspension in general specially with the front end the way it is... plus now lately it seems like the car is bottoming out like the struts are blown or something.... cause i use to have air ride in it and i just went back to my KYB AGX struts with H&R lowering springs... and it seems like the car hits bottom out point alot and it didn't seem like that before the air ride.... by the way the front end wobble was before the air ride so i know it wasn't the air rides fault for that.... but my whole car is a mystery... i just want it to be nice and normal. i know its a 96 and its going to be 10 years old in a year but still it should at least ride better and act better then it does. cause its a freaking import... they should last forever... hehe i wish... but thanks for the advice everyone
