Post why wont a 96 civic DX axle fit into a new tranny (y4f) just installed?


PLease HELP! (im a girl, yes i know) but im trinna find this bcs my bf is at work..


ok here we bought a 1996 honda civic DX and tranny was pooping outta of 3rd gear,(were not keeping the car for long)

we went off and bought a tranny (OFF of craiglist, and it has serial of numbers...& one that says "Y4f") i search but not great info. & so stupid off us, that we forgot to get the year of the tranny, yea i know.
but yesterday we put the tranny in and the (DRIVER)axle wont go in,
its off by like 2 quarters put together ...my bf will be here later but i need some answers soon so help!, QUESTION: do axles varied/change depending transmissions???,...

(ps. i thought trannys between 92-00 would fit any honda? not sure please correc me on that ) thanks! & sorry im new to this!

please help!

Looks like it's from a 92-95 EX/SI.

No... im pretty sure they are all the same, hense i can put a y8 swap into an 94 civic and dont have an issue with the axles.
PS Auto or manual?

NVM 3rd gear poping out should of made me think of this

yea well it wont go in, according to my bf, bcs according to him the tranny would pop ou on1st and 2nd, but then he realized the axle didnt go all the way in, *& he already got help putting it in, but is just wont, im wondering if the new tranny had to do anything with it??

s20 is 92-95, s40 is 96-00

The axle probably just isn't lined up right. Pull it out a bit, just turn the axle a little until it goes in. You have to hold the end of the axle straight and get it lined up for it to fit in the trans correctly.
All 1988-00 Civic single cam axles will interchange, along with transmissions, ignoring the whole hydro/cable issue. The axle will fit. You just don't have it aligned in there perfectly.
