Default Whistling noise on my new intake.

I just installed a AEM V2 Cool Air Intake, in my 00 Accord. It works so nice and I love the sound it makes . But when Im not pushing my rpms high, I hear this whistling noise coming from the intake. Anyone know what this could be from?

I've also got a whistling noise coming from my intake, I don't know if its the same noise though because most intakes make a constant sound when at idle (just sounds like air being sucked through) But lately when I accelerate there's a really high pitch whistle from the intake and I cant figure out what it is... Not that all that helped, but I've got the same noise.

your idle is too high, open your hood where your intake manifold is, lower your idel to about 700rpm. if that dont work i dont really know what will fix it but i'm pretty sure the cause of the noise is the idle being too high, happen to me on my gsr and a lot of people i know and fixed it with the idle lowering.

the whistling is normal.

for the 6th gens that i've driven, the whistling is based on throttle, and not rpms. in other words, i get the whistling sound consistantly at around 15-20% throttle on each of the cars. so if i were to guess, i would say that it has something to do with the throttle body as it opens up.

it's normal, the sound will get louder or occur more often if an intake manifold is installed. I love the sound of my K&N

every AEM I've seen made that whistling noise, and alot of other makes/brands made that sound. It bothered me for a while, when I was a worrywart about every little sound my car made. It's perfectly normal.

Nope not really a pipe is a pipe, just get a good air filter, too match with it. Your paying for the name and powder coating. The v2 does have some weird sell point about the daimeter in pipping getting larger(3"?) to increase air flow?

Please could you help me with this problem?

My 9 month old CRV makes a whistling noise when it is doing 2500 RPM. It only makes this noise at 2500 RPM any gear but not at any other RPM. Is this normal? It has only 3500 miles on the clock.

I've read a number of postings on the whistling noise issue and some people are saying it's because of "aftermarket intake" and some say it's because of "AEM CAI". I don't know anything about cars. Could you please tell me what is "aftermarket intake" and what is "AEM CAI"? Thanks.

and aftermarket intake is an air intake system that provides more airflow to the engine as oppose to the stock airbox and rubber tubing. AEM is a brand of intake and CAI means Cold Air Intake, CAI being one of two style aftermarket intakes available: Cold Air Intake and Short Ram Intake. You'd have to see pics to understand better, but generally CAIs have more airflow because its able to get at the cooler air that comes from under the car as oppose to taking the hot air from within the engine bay, which is what the Short Ram does. The CAI however can choke the engine somewhat during rain because it is more prone to getting the air filter wet.

As for the whistling noise, my 2000 accord 4-banger (meaning 4 cylinder) started making that noise after i installed my short-ram intake, and whistles around 2300 to 2500 RPMs because of the throttle position. Love the sound when i gun it: WOOT WOOOOOT!!

Thanks for much for your information and help. I learn something about cars now.

How do I find out what kind of intake system I've got - Cold Air Intake or Short Ram Intake? If the intake is causing the noise, can something be done about it or should I just live with it? The noise is not loud, just soft high-pitched whistle.

The impression I am getting from these forums is that the noise tend to happen after the car has been modified, for instance to replace the intake system. I'm worried because my car engine hasn't been modified in any way, so how can it get this noise? Bought it brand-new from an authorised Honda dealer. First 7 months, no whistle. Then whistle for the last 2 months.

Do you think the noise will get worse? Is some part wearing out that needs replacing? Is the problem with the exhaust?

yeah man when im easy driving I hear the whistling all the time, so I just turn up the system to dround it out But when I got my heavy foot on it sounds GREAT. Specially when Im racing my friends or what not, whoever is watching likes the sound of my intake better than the others exhaust most of the time. V2 Sure is a great product.

The whistling sound on our cars is normal as a result of having installed and aftermarket intake. You have an airbox not an intake on your car so theres no short ram or CAI on your ride, and the whistling isnt normal for you. take it to the dealer and have them check it out, as I'm sure its still under warranty
