89 Accord LXi won't start
Just picked up an 89 Honda Accord LXi (fuel injected) for my 16 year old son to drive. The car has been seating for a year. It has spark and will turn over if I use starting fluid in the main throat of the throttle body. I have read a lot on the internet about the Main relay, fuel pump, and fuel pressure regulator. Going by the value cost the main relay and pressure value seems to be the cheapest replacements to start with. Does anyone know of a better way to determine the actually problem? I have several multimeters and know how to use them. Thanks in advance.
If you want to know if the main relay works ,you have to listen closely when you put the key on you should hear a HHmmmmmm click... that is the fuel pump that is priming up. Another way to see if the pump is sending gas is to disconnect the fuel line behind the engine but it is hazardous !!! Another possibility is old gas...
clogged fuel line .... good luck (the main relay usually stays on at least 4-5 seconds when you put the key on.)

check these items: main relay, coil, fuel pump, and injectors... replace the fuel filter for good measure...
also check that you are not having problems with your grounds... even though you may be getting spark, you may not have enough power to ignite the mixture in the cylinders... the ground wires on these cars isn't exactly optimal... at least replace the one that goes to the top of the motor...
another thing... http://www.3geez.com will have more insight and info reguarding these accords... in case you haven't already, you may want to give them a shot...
