Default info on this new Turbo noise

Lately when on the highway for over 5 minutes or more. a metallic humming noise comes up (sounds like an electric razor) Only when the EGT gauge reads about 1000 Farenheit (appox. 550') Its seems to be at the point where the turbo just starts too spool. Im worried and dont want to take a road trip because Im afraid something might be wrong. Any of you Turbo boys have this happen too?
thanks

Pull off turbo intake tube, check for any play in turbo. Should have very very little to none (in both axial and radial diamensions)

Are you sure it's just not the turbo spooling?

Also, before you check for play on the turbo, is there any blue smoke under load? If not, then there probably won't be any play on the turbo. If there is blue smoke, and play on the turbo, then the seal is broken, and it's time for a rebuild, or a new turbo.

Oh wait, that might be detonation you are hearing. Does it sorta sound like an aluminum can being crushed, really faint?

Well the turbo is only 3 months old so I dont think thats it. You know what tho, the Prelude Turbo kits dont use a filter on the compressor, just a metal mesh screen over it. But it only makes this noise when it gets real hot and its not the spooling noise, neither is it detonation. Its like a high pitched electric razor and its right when Im hovering towards the 3k rpm mark (when spool starts)
oh, and checking for play.. when I spin the blade it seems fine. do I need to push on it to see if it moves forward or backwards?
thanks in advance
