Default questions about the mini-me swap

i checked out the site and have a few questions.
1 - when it says get a head from a 92-95 si/ex i assume that means the complete head - all the parts including camshaft, cover, and bearings, etc. does that also mean i will need the cam gears? or get the aftermarket adjustable cam gears for the 92-95 si/ex?
2 - do i need the multi-port injection and wiring? will the crx intake bolt up to the 92-95 si/ex civic head?
3 - how does the 92-95 si/ex head make a crx vtec without the vtec lobes? i thought the cams were different.
4 - will the mini-me swap work on a crx dx (not si)? if not, what would i need to make it work?
5 - does anyone know what the gains in hp and torque are with a mini-me swap? or a site that lists this info?
6 - with vtec, the mini-me swap, can i still change the pistons to make higher compression? or should the compression stay the same?

thanks in advance for the help guys. i am just doing some research on this since i am tearing apart my crx motor to rebuild it and make it faster. i figured this would be a good thing to do, since i have access to a lot of the parts that i will need for pretty cheap.

1. the complete head cam. cam gears and intake manifold if u can get it its bigger
2yes if u have a dx u need to make it multi point the dual point sucks beond anything its worthless crap id get rid of it
3its a vtec head the cam moves when vtec is activated just like on a b16
4yes it will work on a d15 but u need to wire in the mpfi
5gains are significant no real #s since each application varies on how well and wut parts are used
6thecompression is increased when the u put the vtec head on yes u could change the pistons also

if i take the civic si/ex head and bolt it up to the dx block, are there going to be any passage problems with the oil returns, coolant, etc? or are the head gaskets the same? am i going to run into any problems putting this head onto the dx block?

yes it will just bolt up, just remove the oil control jet on ther head....use a 92-5 si head gasket, use 92-5 VX timing belt if using (a 1.5l block)...also the distributor will need to be properly fabricated....

the better head would be the 96-00 EX becuase of higher C/r and distributor bolts up, also some newer revisions...

that was my next question - what distributor will i need to use? should i just get a distributor for the head that i get? or will i have to make the one for my dx fit? or, do i need to get the si distributor?

that website that you gave me talks about different distributors and ecu's and which ones work together and don't. i get lost reading all the pm6, pg7, d16y8 and all the other number/letter combos, so please bare with me on this one. if i do the dx to si conversion i will still have the dx ecu, unless i missed something on the site that has the conversion. so, which distributor should i have - the dx or si? and what are the possibilities of just using the same distributor that belongs to the head? can that be wired in? or should i just make the si distributor fit?

also, is it relatively simple to wire in the vtec controller?

and, would you use a fuel pressure regulator from the si/ex or would you get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator from someone like holley or edelbrock or another aftermarket company?

again, thanks for all the help guys, you have been really helpful in my research so far.

oh, one more thing that i had a question about - after reading that website, it talks about using a 4th gen intake manifold and throttle body - does that mean i can use the 88-91 crx si intake and tb? or do i need something different?

did u goto the site up on my post there it tells u how to do everything also here is another site that explains every thing u will need an si distributer and alot of other stuff like the intake manifold if u dont use the intake manifold off the d16z6 head ull deffinitly need injecters and a resister box the si ecu and a head gasket for the head and also a timing belt its all in them sites except the mpfi swap the rewiring for mpfi that is http://www.geocities.com/bing_bong916/vtec.html email me for the mpfi swap info if u cant find it elsewhere its not hard also import tuner had it in one of their issues october of 2001 to be exact shows the mpfi swap and how to wire it in i did it a while ago typer0207 has done it and likes it he and i dont have the vtec head though

i did read both sites listed above - thanks.

a new question - will i be able to use the header from my dx (which is the same as the si) or will i need a new header too? and if i get a different header, will it bolt up to the rest of my exhaust? or should i just get the custom exhaust to go with the new header?
