Hey, my dome light no longer works now that i've put in an aftermarket cd player. Well, it doesn't go on when the doors are open. Is there anyway to fix it / rewire it w/o leaving in the old radio behind the dash?

 

I'm assuming you have a '96-98 Civic.

AFAIK, there is no way to keep your factory remote door locks and dome light if you remove the factory head unit.

actually there is. you have to wire ground, constent, and powe to the factory radio. And hide it somewhere behind the dash, then you can keep your keyless entry.

 

If all you are doing is essentially completing a circuit to whatever unit controls power door locks through the radio, why not just hardwire the door lock unit?

 

Search... I seen something a while back about some1 who just plugged in some wire and got the dome light to work. I'm not quite sure right now though.

 

yes, i have a 98 civ ex. I have an aftermarket keyless, so thats no prob. I know that you can put the old radio in there w/ a harness, but i don't want to do that. I'd rather rewire it somehow.. like is there anyway i can spice from the old wires to where the new wires are? it seems to me like all it does is go into the radio and then back out again.
