Setting cam pulley on JDM D15b
I am doing the timing belt on my newly purchased D15b. I just found out the hard way that it is a VX timing belt, but thats a problem i know understand and can fix. there is another problem though
when i took the cover off of the timing belt with the old one on it, and the crank set to TDC, the "UP" was pointing down, the "TDC" mark was pointing out into the middle of nowhere, and the two other lines were just about level with the block surface.
HOW THE HELL DO YOU SET THIS CRANK PULLEY. I am soo confused right now it is not even funny. I only want people who have personally done this to repsond, not people using hearsay.

The first time I did my timing belt i just pulled off the belt and slapped another one one.. doh..
To make it easy what I do is before I take off the belt I get out a paint marker(white out marker) and I mark the crank and the cam gear before I pull off the belt. That way its simple to put the belt back on.

back to your question.. I notice when I had the 'up' on the cam gear... the Key on the crank gear was also at the top center.

figured it out, almost fully retarded.
Thats what i get for working on stuff when i am tired and hungry, i don't think. I lined it up according to the two marks on the plastic case and all worked out fine.
