Default car keeps DYING

related to my previous post, my Toyota Sienna is only driven once a month. So each time i start it up that one time, it goes dead. So i have to jump start it and it goes fine for a day or two. So i have to always jump start it whenever i want to drive it.

Is this normal for a car that is only driven once a month, or is there something to be concerned about? Its only got like 40K miles on it, year 1998. Parked in the garage(although it can get cold, but this happens in the summer as well). Also, the battery does have white stuff growing on it.

Any ideas? Thanks
