Well today I went to Penske Honda in Ontario, and they offer me 33,000 out the door with tax and all the other bs stuff. I thought it was kinda high so i walk away from it. But going hunting this friday at the local honda dealership around my area in 626.
But I have a qick question, you guys think its a good idea to buy a discountine car? You know, if anything were to break parts will be very expensive to get and to get it replace. I just want your guys opinion on it.

hook...line...and sinker.
The sales pitch that has existed ever since the S2000 came out is that it is in it's final year. We've heard it all from the sales guys. Don't believe anything they say. They are only there for one purpose and that is to sell you a car. They will tell you anything and everything under the sun, even sell their mother's stove top oven to get you to buy the car. So... the S2000 is not in its final year, nor is it being discontinued.

those damn salespersons will do anything to get you to purchase a vehicle...Mr. Bagel is right.
If you wanna have a car shipped from the states, I'll give you a better deal on my 04

Though there have been rumors in various magazines and stuff that 2005 is its last year, i just dont believe it...i love ours, so i would say yes...
i say you should buy an S.. and besides.. even if it does become discontinuned... our cars will start to go up in price..... and as for finding parts on a discontinued car.... i believe honda still has to produce parts for the car for at least 10 years after the final production of the car.......and then just a slight production of parts thereafter....

ALso...someone said it already but parts wise, the parts price will not be effected to the caliber i think your thinking even if the car stops production in 2005...this isnt a ferrari, they made tons of them, and parts are readily available and will be for years and years even if the model stops or is completely redesigned.
You can pick up 2000-2001's for under $20K if you look, keep in mind you'll get a plastic rear window. 2002-2003 id say easily $22K-$24K...2004-2005, your looking at $28K+ (but that could be less if you find a higher mileage 2004)...keep in mind too, most of them you find are going to have relatively low mileage because many people that are selling them didnt drive them much...my brother has 2 on his brokerage lot right now (2000 and a 2003), both great cars with under 25K miles...cant remember the prices and all but if you look hard enough you can find some steller deals since so many buy them, get tired of them when they cant drive them with the top down and tend to take losses on them if they bought them new...
Or you can get to know someone at a dealership and walk away with a brand new one fairly cheap, i got my wife's at employee cost (not sure how much discount) but got a nice extended warranty and everything...just gotta know who to talk to or have a friend who sells them specifically...

33 otd (american dollars) is pretty good. sticker is about 33 or 34 + tax/licensing, so the price they're offering you sounds about fair. it's a great car. i don't think you can find anything else that's hand assembled for anywhere near that price.

actually that depends on his tax rate. i know for me its 6%. So thats about 31k for the car + tax and tags = 33k OTD. I would shoot for 30 + tax and tags. Its winter time so very doable. good luck!

They are still going to make the car. And next year they might come out with a hardtop s2k. And the dealership that i was at didnt think they were going to get any 05's, but they did lol. And i heard around that there wasnt going to be a 05. And they were wrong lol. (I have a 05). But for next year its going to come in hardtop from what i know.
I highly doubt they will make a hardtop S2000...and if a dealer told you that there werent going to be any 2005's, id give that guys supervisor a call and let him know what he's telling folks...just FYI though, 2005 is reported to be the last year model as said in an issue of Motor Trend from last year (i think it was the comparison test issue, where they said the 2005 will be the final year for the honda roadster, and mentioned something about a replacement a couple of years later with the NSX replacement...you typically cant go on their words though since they like to take something someone said and capitalize on it to make it the truth...)
i say 07 will be the last year for the S... that'll complete their 4 years run for the ap2.... honda is known for changing things up every 4 years..
just my take on things..

i doubt they would stop selling it. they will more likely redesign it at that point and we'll have a "new" model
