Default big time battery drain

done some searching, didnt seem to apply to my problem. my battery is getting some serious drain, with the car on and off. the alternator and battery are both brand new. the car will run with a solid 13.5v after a jump but once i turn it off, i need a jump to get it going again. i would assume that if something were shorted, it wouldnt work properly, however allthe electronics appear to be working. any suggestions where to start? its a 98 ex.

well, first maybe one of your new parts are bad, load test the battery and check the alternator, thats just a failsafe step. Then i would check ur fuses and what not to see if pulling a certain one will stop draining your battery.

possibe... i threw a code last night so if its there this morning (if the battery doesnt drain fully) then ill swing by and have them look at it. i really doubt its the alternator because i replaced it recently, now i think i had to replace it beacuse of this problem. im going to rip out my stereo tommorow and check all the connections under the dash.

didnt have time to check yesterday, already late for work. got the suggestion to disconnect the pos term and connect a voltmeter between cable and battery and pull fuses one at a time til the load drops. if this doesnt work, what else can i look at?

there is a thick white wire that runs from your eld to your alternator... the starting system is relatively easy... I would check for continuity on that first, then there are four wires that come off of that green plug, those are all to the voltage regulator, if you are losing power constantly that is where your problem lies, I have the symatics if you need more help.

ok check it out
battery is a week old, replaced the alternator yesterday, still doin it. ripped out all my stereo and checked all my wirirng (good). the codes i threw were cyl 3, 4 misfire, random misfire and ignition malfunction or something i cant remember. the plugs and wires are less than a year old, as the cap and rotor. the starter is good. i suspected it might be the msd sci, but when i removed the power wire for it, it still seemed to drain. i am at a loss. i tried checking voltage on the fuses after removal, but im not sure which ones are supposed to show voltage with the car off. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
