Just a reminder...
See this guy? This is your timing belt.

Change it when youre supposed to. Otherwise, this could happen...

...and if youre not as lucky as me, the ***** gonna snap. I like to live life on the edge, what can I say its how I roll! Who can guess the mileage on the belt?
Close call! Stay on top of it!!!

That's a close one. Good thing you caught it early before anything happened. I also don't like guessing games. Just tell us the mileage on the belt.
1 million miles.....
i did mine at 95k, the belt still looked like new. i wouldnt even have changed it but i already had it off and had bought a new one already....

Thats nothin to brag about IMO. Timing belts just break. There usually are not any signs.

I did my auto LS at 100k. It was done again at 180k.
When I purchased my GSR with 77k I changed it the next week.
The timing belt is something you don't want to take chances with. Something so easy to remember. Once it breaks you need a new engine (most likely) and then you will be kicking yourself in the ***.

122k baby!
I was lucky...I was on the dyno starting in 1st gear and all of a sudden everyone went whoa whoa, listen to this noise. Got out of the car while someone drove it on the dyno and heard "tap tap tap tap tap" from the valvecover. The belt was so loose it was slapping against the VC! The noise was completely inaudible from inside the car...if I hadnt gone to the dyno I wouldnt have noticed it and Im sure it would have snapped.
It is an OEM belt, and I check it every time I do a valve adjustment (which seems about 10k) and it wasnt showing any extreme wear not just 1500 miles ago (the usual wear, sure, but no tears, cracks, etc).
Definitely not something to take a chance on, but I am King Procrastinator. Learn from my mistake, dont procrastinate! About 2cm from piston/valve soup.

lets say before i bought it, my car has been serviced at acura every 3000 miles with records to prove it...
when does acura change belts?
is it part of any 70,000 mile tune up or what not? i bought my car at around 75k and a buddy fo mine that wokrs at honda told me that it most most likely changed if its been serviced at acura sine it was "born"
thabks

Let's say you bought your car used with 78k last april, how do you know if it Has or has Not been changed? I would personally keep it in the glove box- but the only thing in there was the manual. ( I bought it from the dealership) Any help?

My owners' manual and Helms both specify to change the timing belt every 90K miles.
I changed mine right after I bought the car at 89K miles. I changed it again at ~180K miles.
Changing it at 60K miles (like some people seem to think is necessary) is a waste IMHO, since you will end up changing it 3 times in 180K miles instead of two times. But going longer than 90K is just driving on borrowed time for every mile you go past the 90K miles interval.

. . . and I was just about to head out the door to change mine as well as the water pump.

my car has about 125k on it and i just bought it several months ago. the previous owner claims that her boyfriend chnaged the timing belt but there is no record of it at all (no receipts for new belt). should i trust her on this or just get it changed to be on teh safe side?
Ive never seen anything other than 90k normal and 60k severe for Integras. I dont believe the pump/belt is part of any service interval package, but it is recommended to you if you take it in around the 60,70,80,90k area...they'll definitely mention it.
You can check your belt by removing your valve cover and inspect the belt for cracks/tears/wear. Manually turn the crank and check the whole belt. If its brown, fading, and you can see the imprint of the teeth from the flat side of the belt clearly, its about time. Also check the tension...mine was way way loose, and replacing made it the car pull much more responsive...top end was night and day. My belt obviously was stretched terribly though.
