Default SIR Doors, Seatbelts, and Powerlocks.

My doors are beat, i have enough to order a pair of jdm doors for my crx, but it occured to me that only usdm cars have the seatbelts in the door.

this would leave me with no belts once i swap them

what can i do if i order these, do i have to get those seatbelt harness things, id really rather not.

if i got the whole seatbelt assembly out of a canadian car, or did perhaps the older us cars come with pillar seatbelts, could the mount be drilled and tapped, or welded?

EDIT no powerlocks, they only have switches for power windows.

thats all, thanks guys.

all 88's had pillar mounted belts and 89 hf's

the chassis itself already has the mounting points/holes and the ones that need to be threaded to mount the belt assembly are threaded...at least on my 91 hatch there are pillar seatbelt mount locations...why wouldn't it be accross the board?

i would say get teh plastic interior panels out of a 88 or 89 hf and go from there. but check your car first to varify that you have all of the mounting holes and that they are threaded like my hatch was.

at work tomorrow ill take one of the pillars down and check. i just didnt want to be forced into aftermarket seatbelts.

i dont think i can transfer my current belts from the door to the pillar though, im sure they are different.

thanks for the suggestion.

I dunno.. Im pretty sure I read somewhere that all the pass side holes are there and it's a bolt in matter.

However on the driver side the lower mounting point is NOT there and you have to either weld/drill you're own setup. I'll look for a thread with some info.

i got my pillar belts from a guy in the UK (used, but working) they are VERY expensive to get new and hard to find used here in the US.

i have pics on my website of the progress so far (link in sig). the good news: most of the holes are already there, or marked in the plastic trim pieces. the bad news: one hole is not there, and there are brake lines and other wires going over where the hole would be. (the lower mount hole on the driver's side) SO... the easiest thing for you to do would be to get door-mount seatbelt doors and paint them instead of going through the whole conversion like i am. or you could always get harnesses, but i wanted mine to look stock.</TD></TR></TABLE>

hope that helps.

i had found out for myself that the one bolt hole is MIA as well. also, there are little plastick pieces on the lower part of the rear interior (big panel) that snap out and then you run your belts up through the hole it leaves... you'll see what im talking about

I don't believe any crx came with oem power locks. If you want to get the rest of the parts needed to switch to pillar mounted belts, just order the parts from a wreaker in Canada. All 88-91 crx's had them, we never got a any model with door mounted belts.

I have no threaded blocks for both passenger and driver upper cpillar belt mounts.. wtf. And of course the lower either.. all i have is the 17mm thread and 10mm thread to hold in the reel portion of both belts. God this is gonna be a nightmare.

has anyone else done this swap? I'm about to just weld a nut to a square piece of metal and then weld the piece of metal to the c-pillar and then screw the bolt into that.. seems like the best way to get this **** done now.

ok passenger side is kinda done.. god it took for ever for my dad and i to come with a way to mount em safely. after all this i realized that the belts dont clip into 89 seats.. wtf honda. and are 88 female belt portions mounted to the seat or the exhuast tunnel? I'll be uber pissed if they're mounted to the tunnel. I'll get pics up tomorrow.. i have to leave for work now.

ya, they'd be mounted to the ploor direct, or exhaust tunnel as you reffered to it. All Canadian models of allyears are like that. Parts are easy to get if needed.

I'm getting a pager alarm off ebay for like $100 and having it installed by a friend for free. just wanted to brag lol

anyways. As for the overhead lights and beeping, pop off the cover behind the lights, unscrew the 3 phillips heads to lower the mirror, pull out the connector and disconnect it. That stops the overhead lights and beeping. As for the dash light... ahha pull out the cluster and remove the bulb thats what im gonna do.

whats the diff? The door mounted belts have some sort of sensor to tell if they're not connected.. so when i swapped my pass side door it beeped. The pillar mounted belts dont have any sensors at all. The only sensor old school c-pillars have is a 2 wire one located in the female portion of the belt assembly mounted near the ebrake handle.. only on the driver side. You could re-wire from that if you really need a red light to tell you your selt belt is on(dash). But as for the overheads, you're talking about a whole **** load of work for nothing. Or you can grab an overhead part from an 88 that doesn't have the 2 lights. If you wanna do it "the right way" If it works... it's right. If it doesn't, its wrong.. my way works. next time try not to be so arrogant.
