does the heater hose hook up to the same housing that the thermostat sits in?

yes, one heater hose goes to the thermostat housing, the other goes to the
side of the cylinder head.

 

im not lookin right now(not near my engine), where on the cylinder head?

one the thermostat housing there are two ports, one is for the return heater hose and the other one runs into the intake manifold(if you are in front of the car its located on the far left hand side of the flange of the IM) hope this helps
