IAC problem
My integra was rearended and I just got a '00 Silverstone metallic with 37000 and had a quick question...Driving home this morning at 5am, cruising at about 80, my CEL came on out of no where...The car drove fine and I cruised at a steady 60mph to get home, which was about another 10 miles away...As I came near my home at a stop light, I noticed my revs going from 1500-2000 bouncing up and down...I stop at a 7-11 to get a newspaper and start the car and the car idles fine, but the CEL stays on...So i get home, jump the connector with the paper clip and get a code 14...I look it up and it the IAC valve...I reset the ECU and the light turned off, took it for a drive and 2 miles later, light came back on with the same idle problem...My question is, is this a common problem for the 2000 models? The car has been running perfectly fine for the past week that I've owned the car and it just happened so randomly...I'll be taking it to the dealer tomorrow, hopefully, to get it checked out...Hopefully its nothing too serious and the IAC will be replaced and taken care of....I'm just trying to get info on why it would go out that easily...
Resetting the CEL is to check for a fluke that happens. Otherwise, it means "take me to the dealer to get me checked out". And in the case of yours, it looks ot be a little more serious. Sounds to me, from your description, a possible mis-shift.
I doubt its a mis-shift...i've babied the car all week...i've searched all over s2ki and many people have had problems with the IACV going bad randomly...the car is back at the dealer and hopefully it'll be fixed tomorrow...
Was the weather hot or cold when it was happening b/c my car does it real bad when it is cold and i scaned the ecu and it was throwing the code for that iac.

yeah it happened in the morning, around 5 am and the weather was prolly around 30-35 degrees...i juss wish the service dept would hurry up and fix it...
blargh...
why would it be a mis-shift? lol....
so if i mis-shift an s2000, the IACV is going to randomly take a ****?
Or maybe the engine temp sensor, or some other random part that doesn't have anything to do with mis-shifting.
That is kind of shitty that your IACV is out....
that part controls your warm up idle as well as your normal idle.
pretty important part. it shouldn't be too bad to replace, i'm guessing on your cars it is by the intake manifold.
good luck.

yeah i mean i can replace the iacv myself if that was the problem...but they told me it was a faulty ecu...so now theyre still doing tests to make sure it IS the cause of the problem, and they probobly wont get another ecu till next week...

Umm.... dude, usually, the ECU is one of the last things to check for fault.
hopefully they're not giving you a new ECU, and just using a good-known ECU to check for problems.
