I would love to hear those who's been around Hondas a lot longer than I have to detail how long ago Honda started using a forged crankshaft on even their low-priced cars.

i don't think there is motor that honda didn't use a forged crank. maybe the 600's? and titanium rods are nothing new the NSX had them 15 years ago.
Don't know about Honda, but 240Z's had forged crankshafts (and rods), which is 1970. All of the L-Series engines had them prior to that as well I believe.
I'm pretty sure that Chevy used forged cranks in the 1969 DZ 302 engine (also know as a Z28 to you kids).
You could also ask what Honda was building at the time that Chevy started selling cars.
Dang, the whole domestic vs import argument is a major waste of time!! They are totally different cars designed for a different markets. Plus a lot of it is the result of marketing history of the companies in question.
I'd be hard pressed to say that detroit has ever made a good "small" car (except for maybe the Focus). At the same time, I've never seen a "big block" come from Japan, and torque is good!
