Default best bang for buck header

whats up, ht. I'm kind of new on here so I'll tell you I have a '93 civic dx sedan with a cold air intake, test pipe, and Tanabe SMR cat-back, Tein S. Tech springs, jdm type R front lip, and the molding, mirrors, and door handles all painted to match the base color which is white. It's a pretty clean ride. Hopefully I'll get pics up soon.
So, here's what I was hoping you guys could help me with. I am looking for the best header for my car. The engine is the D15B7.
Right now I'm leaning towards the DC Sports 4-2-1, 2 piece, ceramic header. I can get one right now for $250 tops. I figure this is a pretty good header for that price.
If anyone has experience with a similar set-up, please let me know how it works for you. Also if anyone feels there is a better product out there that maybe I don't know about, let me know too.
I appreciate any help. Thank you.

first to answer your question, the dc sport 4-2-1 header is a decent header at that price.... second, welcome to honda-tech to familiarize yourself a bit with honda-tech review the rules of each forum and learn to use the search function at the top right hand corner of the page. There are so many people registered for honda-tech, just about every question you can think of has been asked, but if u can not find it then posting will be apropriate good luck with the search

unfortuanately all the dyno chart pics are dead. and it's B series headers, but i'm sure you can learn a thing or two by reading it.

here's another: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=102957

best overall bang for the buck is probably going to be the DC sports 4-2-1. if you can save up the cash for a good one (i.e. - bisi) it might be worth it if you're dead set on staying all motor D series.

I read the lastest version of import tuner at the store a couple days ago, and was kinda depressed to see that the DC sports header maybe gained like 1 hp and 2ft/lbs of torque in mid range and actually lost some top end for them. I realize that this is just a magazine and therefor all marketing, so you have to read through the hype, they didn't admit that the header did nothing for them, but they didn't hide the dyno either.

I'm just saying I'd do more research, kind of gives some substance to the idea that a small company like DC sports might not know that much more about exhaust flow than Honda.

headers don't do **** unless you got a built motor.this may seen harsh, and many na guys are gonna hate me,but lets be real now. It's a d15 piece of ****** **** motor, unless you do internal work,it's still gonna be slow as ****.take that 250 and buy a zex cam,or buy a used nitrous kit.or you dont buy that and save up for a costum turbo kit.homemadeturbo.com.

if you still want to go w/ a header, get a chikara, for 140.and thats still a worthless mod.

EDIT ****,you bought it

So a header alone doesn't do anything, but you say a cam with a stock exhaust system will? Good call, not.

thats weird, the zex 59300 cam made an average of 9 hp and 2 ft/lbs, and peaks of 11 hp and 9 ft/lbs, on a stock engine. i want to see a header for 250 bucks do that. He would have to get a bisimoto or exospeed header, to see gains like that

exactly

EDIT:i just think that expensive headers dont do **** for your car except look cool.
if i was to built a race car, then yes,i would get a bisi.but 250 on a header that will net you 1 hp and lose top end, then no thanks.

IMO i wouldn't buy a cam for a d15b7. Minime it, then i would consider a cam.

I thought everybody knew this. Its a well known fact, the "HP Racing" header gives the d series the most power of any header. Plus, its only about $220 or so shipped.

In the low/mid range or mid/high range?

This writeup here says low/mid. Not that theres anything wrong with that, just curious.

ROFLOL, while we're using manufacturers claims, why don't you just drop in this http://www.tornadoair.com/ little swirly thing after the air filter and enjoy up to a 28% increase in gas mileage.

Doing a mini me is something I am definitly considering doing in the near future. I figured it would be best to get the exhaust completely finished first. Sooner or later I would have to lose the stock manifold, whether it be now, or after the mini-me. I feel pretty confident that it was a good deal ($250 shipping included). I did do some research on the HP headers, but after talking with some local people who already have dc sports headers on thier civics, they told me how much they loved them and it kind of sealed the deal for me. Everyone I've talked to has said it's an awesome deal for a brand new header.
I'll have to look into that cam, sounds promising. Any amount of horsepower is much needed and appreciated out of this engine. The d15 is definitly weak, I know. I just try to reduce as much weight as I can and it helps a little. Anything helps
This is actually my first car to do work on, so to get a mini me for $250 isn't realistic anyways because I would have to involve a shop to do the engine work. I've actually found a nice write up about mini-me's on this site, but it's still nothing I would tackle myself. I bet after it's all said and done, I'd end up spending 500 for the head and everything else and then another 500 on labor (if not more).
