Default HELP INSTALLING SPEAKERS IN MY HATCH! Do i remove the plastic piece???

I just got a pair of Infinity speakers.

I went to install them but they didnt fit. There is a black bucket that holds the stock speaker, am i supposed to use that with the aftermarket ones? Or do i install them directly to the door?

Very confused, please help soon

Thanks alot guys

i got some s2k speakers to replace my stock civic ones. i popped the old speakers out of the 'baskets' and put the new ones in. obviously you gotta plug the new ones in and screw it back in. not too hard

edit: if they are too big, i think over 6x5, then u may need fab some brackets to hold it in place.

Thanks alot guys </TD></TR></TABLE>There are a few things you can do. [depending on the size of the speaker] keep in mind the rules about speaker mounting, [for best sound]

1- you need a flat serface to mount the speaker to, [ so you don't bend the sp.]

1- you need an airtight seal on the speaker, [for bass]

3- you need mass, [the more mass the speaker is mounted to the better it will sound]

So, that said, if the problem is that the speaker is just to deep , [the magnet hits the back of the OEM speaker basket] cut the back of the basket out, [just big enough for the magnet to fit through]

If the sp. mounting diam. is bigger then the stock sp., [by a little or the depth is just a little] you can make a depth reduser, [ just a ring made out of MDF] that has an outside diam. of the new sp., the inside diam. to match the mounting diam. of the sp., and whatever thickness you need to clear.

If the depth reduser won't work, [speaker is to big or deep] you will need to make a custom speaker mount to replace the OEM plastic ones, [ it is the best way, for two good reasons, one- a speaker mounted to wood will sound better then one mounted to most anything else, two- mass, a MDF speaker mount will have more mass then the OEM plastic one] if you need more help IM me 94
