Default Using a nylon/teflon liner for aluminum AND steel in a MIG gun?

I have a lincoln pro-mg 175 that i want to "convert" to aluminum by puting in a nylon or teflon lyner in the gun instead of the metal one (worked once w/ aluminum now it just clogs).
Can I leave that liner in there when using steel mig wire or would i have to swap out each time i changed wire?
